Black Rain Milled Lower Receiver Black – Solid AR-15 Build Base

Description

The Black Rain Milled Lower Receiver Black is a stripped AR-15 lower receiver from Black Rain Ordnance, machined from aluminum and finished in black Cerakote. This listing is UPC 697067887134, Black Rain part number BRO-MLR-ABLK. It is the starting point for a custom rifle or pistol build and comes as a bare receiver, with no trigger group, buffer system, stock or grip installed.

Black Rain Milled Lower Receiver Black Overview

Black Rain Ordnance builds AR-15 rifles in Neosho, Missouri, and this is the same style of lower the company uses as the base for its own rifles. If you want to build your own AR the way you like it, a quality lower is the right place to start, since it carries the serial number and is the part you will keep as you change uppers over the years.

Machined Aluminum

The receiver is machined from aluminum rather than cast, which gives clean dimensions, crisp edges and consistent fit for pins, springs and the buffer tube. Check fit with your chosen upper; a slight wobble between brands is normal and does not affect accuracy.

Cerakote Finish

The black Cerakote is a baked on ceramic coating that resists scratches, solvents and corrosion better than plain anodizing. Coating can make some holes slightly tight, so take your time when you install the pins.

What You Need to Finish It

To complete the lower you need a lower parts kit (trigger, hammer, safety, mag catch, bolt catch and pins), a buffer tube, buffer and spring, and a stock or brace plus a grip. You will also need an upper receiver. Many builders add an upgraded trigger at this stage.

Mil Spec Compatibility

The lower uses standard AR-15 dimensions, so it accepts mil spec parts, standard magazines and most AR-15 upper receivers. If you plan an unusual caliber, confirm magazine and upper compatibility before you buy.

Rifle or Pistol

The first configuration you build matters. A lower first built as a rifle with a stock should not later become a short barreled pistol. Plan your build, and if in doubt, build it as a pistol first or ask us.

Tools and Help

A vise block, punches, a roll pin holder and an armorer wrench make the job easier. If you would rather not assemble it yourself, a local gunsmith can do it at modest cost.

State Laws

Some states regulate AR-15 receivers, features and magazine size, and a few treat a lower as an assault weapon on its own. We can only ship this receiver where it is legal. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
