Black Rain Frontline Plus Firehouse Red Overview
Black Rain Ordnance is a Neosho, Missouri company best known for its AR-15 rifles. The Handgun Series brings that same build quality to a carry pistol, and the Frontline+ is the ported version of the Frontline. Black Rain describes it as premium quality and customization at a price point for the masses, and the core idea is simple: start with the most proven compact pattern on the market, then add the slide work, stippling and finish options most owners would pay a custom shop for.
Ported Slide and Barrel
The Frontline+ uses a ported slide and barrel that vent gas upward as the bullet leaves the muzzle. That pushes the front of the gun down and reduces muzzle flip, so the dot or front sight returns to the target faster for follow up shots. The tradeoff is more flash and concussion, which you will notice indoors and in low light. Most shooters find it a fair trade at the range, but if this is a nightstand gun, practice with it in low light before you depend on it.
Red Dot Ready and Sights
The slide comes cut for a red dot, so you can add an optic without sending the slide out for milling. It ships with AmeriGlo sights that work on their own and give you a backup if the dot fails. Black Rain’s spec card lists tritium night sights while its product text lists AmeriGlo, so ask us if the exact sight type matters to you. Check the plate or footprint for your dot with us before you order it.
Glock 19 Compatibility
Because the Frontline+ follows the Glock 19 Gen 3 pattern, it takes standard Glock 19 magazines and fits most Glock 19 holsters and accessories. It ships with a Magpul PMAG 15 GL9 magazine. Ported slides and aftermarket cuts can change how a holster fits, so test your holster with an unloaded gun before you carry it.
Frame, Grip and Trigger
The polymer blend frame has upgraded stippling for grip in sweaty or wet hands and an undercut trigger guard that lets your hand ride higher for better recoil control. The slide has beveled edges and stainless steel retention pins. The standard trigger breaks at roughly 5.5 pounds, similar to a stock Glock, and it accepts many drop in Glock trigger parts.
The Firehouse Red Battleworn Finish
Firehouse Red is a bold fire engine red Cerakote, and the battleworn treatment lets the black base coat show through at the edges, so the pistol looks broken in from day one. Cerakote is a ceramic based coating that resists corrosion, scratches and chemicals better than paint. Battleworn finishes are applied by hand, so the wear pattern varies a little from gun to gun.
Concealed Carry and Home Defense
At 7 inches long and about 21.8 ounces loaded, the Frontline+ is the same class of compact pistol most people pick for concealed carry. The MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail takes a weapon light or laser for home defense. The 15 round magazine may not be legal in states that cap magazine capacity, so check your state law before you buy.
Warranty and Value
Black Rain backs the Frontline+ with its lifetime customer warranty. Custom finishes and slide work like this usually cost several hundred dollars on a factory Glock, so the Frontline+ gives you that look out of the box. Resale value will be lower than a factory Glock because Black Rain is a smaller name in handguns.
Care and Maintenance
Clean the ports after each range trip because they collect carbon faster than a plain slide. A nylon brush and solvent work well. Cerakote is tough, but wipe it down after carry in humid weather and avoid harsh solvents that can dull the finish.
