Description
The Black Rain Frontline+ Burnt Bronze is a compact 9mm pistol from the Black Rain Ordnance Handgun Series with an undercut, ported slide and barrel and a red-dot-ready stainless steel slide. This listing is UPC 697067875179 in burnt bronze battleworn. It holds 15+1 rounds, weighs about 21.8 ounces with the magazine, and feeds from Magpul PMAG 15 GL9 magazines.
Black Rain Frontline+ Burnt Bronze Overview
Black Rain designed the Frontline+ to bring custom-shop features to a price more shooters can reach. The porting helps keep the muzzle flatter for faster follow-up shots, the slide is ready for a red dot, and a wide choice of finishes lets you pick a pistol that looks like your own.
Ported Slide and Barrel
Gas vents through ports in the barrel and the undercut slide windows, which pushes the muzzle down and reduces muzzle rise during recoil. Ported pistols are louder and more flash-prone than non-ported guns, especially in low light, so keep that in mind for a home defense role.
Red Dot Ready
The stainless steel slide is cut for a red dot so you can add an optic now or later. Ameriglo sights come standard for a clear sight picture until you do.
Compact Size, Full Capacity
At about 7 inches long and 5.125 inches tall with a 1.125-inch width, the pistol is sized for carry, yet it still holds 15 rounds in a Magpul PMAG 15 GL9 magazine. A MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail accepts a weapon light or laser.
Trigger and Controls
The standard trigger breaks at about 5.5 pounds, a good balance for carry and range use. The polymer blend frame keeps weight down while giving a secure grip.
Training With a Compact Pistol
Compact pistols reward good fundamentals. Work on a firm, high grip and a smooth trigger press at 5 to 7 yards before moving back, and practice reloads and malfunction clearing with dummy rounds. A shot timer and a few short drills each week build skill faster than long, unfocused range sessions.
Carrying a Compact 9mm
Choose a holster made for this exact pistol and optic setup, and use a sturdy gun belt. Practice drawing slowly and safely with an unloaded pistol before carrying, and make sure the holster fully covers the trigger guard.
Choosing Ammunition
Use quality full metal jacket ammunition for practice and a proven jacketed hollow point for defense. Fire a few boxes of your chosen defensive load to confirm reliable feeding.
Adding a Red Dot
Confirm the optic footprint and plate compatibility with Black Rain before buying a dot. Mount it with the recommended screws and thread locker, and zero at 15 to 25 yards.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Ported barrels collect more carbon around the ports, so scrub them during each cleaning. Field strip after each range trip and put a light coat of oil on the slide rails.
Safe Storage at Home
Whenever a handgun is not on your body, keep it locked in a quick-access safe or lockbox, especially if children live in or visit your home, and store ammunition separately.
