Description
The Bersa TPRC Matte is a compact, double-action/single-action 9mm pistol built for duty, home defense and everyday carry. This model (Bersa TPR9CM, UPC 810083202051) has a 3.25-inch barrel, a 13+1 capacity and a matte black serrated steel slide over a matte black aluminum frame.
Bersa TPRC Matte Overview
The TPR series is Bersa’s modern duty-style pistol, designed to compete with service guns that cost far more. It combines a lightweight aluminum alloy frame with a steel slide, a smooth DA/SA trigger and fully ambidextrous controls, so it works equally well for left- and right-handed shooters. The compact TPRC uses a Browning-Petter locking system for reliable feeding and ejection, and it is sized for comfortable concealed carry.
Ambidextrous Decocker and Controls
A slide-mounted ambidextrous safety and decocker lets you safely lower the hammer after chambering a round, and the controls are easy to reach from either side. The first shot breaks double action with a deliberate pull, and follow-up shots break single action with a short, crisp trigger.
Sights and Slide
The three-dot sights give a fast, clear sight picture. The serrated slide offers a positive grip for loading and clearing malfunctions.
Why 9mm DA/SA
The 9mm Luger offers an excellent balance of capacity, recoil and proven defensive performance, and practice ammunition is affordable and easy to find. A DA/SA pistol with a decocker gives a long, deliberate first pull that many shooters prefer for a carry or nightstand gun.
Practice and Carry Tips
Practice the transition from the first double-action shot to single-action follow-ups, and get comfortable decocking every time you holster. Confirm reliability with a few hundred practice rounds plus a box of your defensive load before relying on the pistol for protection.
Safe Storage at Home
Whenever a handgun is not on your body, keep it locked in a quick-access safe or lockbox, especially if children live in or visit your home. Store ammunition separately when the gun is put away long term. A small biometric or keypad safe by the bed keeps a defensive pistol secure yet quickly reachable, and a cable lock is an inexpensive option for travel or range bags.
Choosing Ammunition
For practice, inexpensive full metal jacket loads let you shoot often without breaking the budget. For defense, choose a quality jacketed hollow point from a major maker and confirm it feeds reliably in your pistol by firing at least fifty rounds of it. Keep carry ammunition fresh by rotating it into practice every six months or so, and store spare ammunition in a cool, dry place.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Field stripping is quick and makes routine cleaning easy. Wipe carbon from the slide, barrel hood and breech face, run a few patches through the bore and put a drop of oil on the slide rails and barrel. Inspect the recoil spring and magazine springs periodically and replace them if they feel weak or the pistol starts to malfunction.
