Bersa BP9 Full Size 9mm Matte Black Overview
Bersa has built affordable, dependable handguns in Argentina for decades. The BP9 Full Size brings features buyers usually pay more for, including a ported slide, an optic cut and an aggressive hex grip texture, at a price that leaves room in the budget for a red dot and ammunition.
Ported, Optic Ready Slide
The 4140 steel slide has ports over the barrel to vent gas upward and reduce muzzle rise, and it is cut for micro red dots that use the RMSc footprint. Ported slides add flash and noise, especially in low light, so practice with the ammunition you plan to carry.
Trigger and Safety
The BP9 is striker fired with a tabbed trigger safety, and Bersa lists the pull at about 3.7 lb. That is light for a duty size pistol, so keep your finger off the trigger until you are on target and carry it in a holster that fully covers the trigger.
Grip and Frame
The full size polymer frame has a beavertail to protect your hand from the slide and a Picatinny rail for a weapon light. The premium hex texture gives a secure hold with sweaty or gloved hands. The pistol stands about 5.3 inches tall, is 1.29 inches wide and weighs about 26.1 ounces.
Sights
The front and rear sights are dovetailed into the slide, so you can swap them for night sights or taller sights to co-witness with a red dot.
Choosing Ammunition
Standard 115 or 124 grain full metal jacket ammunition is the best value for practice. For carry, choose a quality hollow point and run a few boxes through your pistol to confirm it feeds reliably.
Holsters
The BP9 Full Size is a newer model, so holster choices are more limited than for the most popular pistols. Check that a holster is made for the BP9 Full Size, and for your light or optic if you add one, before you buy.
Cleaning and Care
Field strip and clean the slide, barrel and frame after each range trip, and add a drop of oil where the owner manual shows. Ported barrels collect carbon around the ports, so give them a little extra attention.
State Laws
Some states limit magazine capacity to 10 rounds or restrict which handguns can be sold. Check your state and local laws before you order. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
