Description
The Berger 6.5 Creedmoor 140gr Elite Hunter is designed for hunting whitetail deer and other mid-sized game with one of the most popular cartridges in the field. Berger loads its 140 grain Elite Hunter bullet and lists 2,750 fps with 2,351 ft-lbs at the muzzle from a 26 inch barrel. Each box holds 20 rounds.
Why Hunters Trust the Berger 6.5 Creedmoor 140gr Elite Hunter
The 6.5 Creedmoor has become a top choice in precision rifle competition and in the hunting woods thanks to its accuracy, mild recoil and efficient ballistics. Berger says the 140 grain Elite Hunter gives a ballistic advantage over other bullets in this cartridge.
The Elite Hunter is a hybrid hunting bullet with a high ballistic coefficient. Its hybrid ogive starts as a tangent shape for easy tuning, then transitions to a secant shape for less wind drift, and its thin J4 hunting jacket is designed to penetrate a short distance before rapidly expanding.
Berger loads this ammunition with clean-burning, temperature stable powder, which helps keep velocity consistent from warm early seasons to cold late hunts.
Hunting With the Berger 6.5 Creedmoor 140gr Elite Hunter
As 6.5 Creedmoor deer ammo, this load retains about 2,184 fps and 1,483 ft-lbs at 400 yards according to Berger, making it a capable long range whitetail load when shots are placed well.
Berger bullets expand quickly, so aim for the vitals and avoid heavy shoulder bone at close range. For elk or larger game, many hunters step up to heavier calibers.
Confirm zero with this exact load and practice from field positions. Chronograph data from your own rifle will make your holdovers far more reliable than published numbers alone.
Check local regulations, since some areas require lead-free hunting ammunition and this is a lead-core bullet.
