Bergara Stoke Compact PRC (6.5 PRC) 20″ – Superb Compact Hunting Rifle

Description

The Bergara Stoke Compact PRC is a compact bolt-action rifle chambered in 6.5 PRC and built from the ground up for smaller-framed shooters. This configuration (Bergara model B14SM909, UPC 043125017492) pairs a 20-inch threaded barrel with a sporter-style synthetic stock, a 12.25-inch length of pull and a hinged floorplate, and it weighs about 6.3 pounds.

Bergara Stoke Compact PRC Overview

Plenty of youth rifles simply chop an inch off the stock. Bergara went much further with the Stoke, shortening the fore-end, refining the grip and adding a raised comb with a negative angle that pulls the stock away from your cheek under recoil. The Bergara Stoke Compact PRC balances naturally for teens, women and anyone with a shorter reach, and it carries Bergara’s sub-MOA accuracy guarantee with quality factory ammunition.

Compact Stock With 12.25-Inch Length of Pull

A 12.25-inch length of pull is one of the shortest in the centerfire bolt-action market. Quarter-inch spacers are included, so the rifle can grow with a young hunter for years instead of being outgrown in a season or two. The raised comb lines your eye up with the scope without craning your neck, and the gray speckled finish gives a secure grip in rain and cold.

Threaded Barrel and Smooth B-14 Action

The Graphite Black Cerakote barrel is 4140 chrome-moly steel in a No. 4.5 taper, threaded 5/8×24 for a muzzle brake or suppressor, with a 1:10 twist. The B-14 action runs a two-lug bolt with a sliding extractor and a coned bolt nose for smooth feeding, and the receiver is drilled and tapped for standard short-action scope bases.

Extra Reach From the 6.5 PRC

The 6.5 PRC pushes 6.5mm bullets roughly 200 to 300 feet per second faster than the 6.5 Creedmoor, adding reach for deer, pronghorn and mule deer while recoil stays moderate. It fits a short action, so the rifle stays short and handy. Bergara lists a 1:10 twist for this model, which handles common 120 to 143 grain hunting bullets.

Tips for New Shooters

Start at the bench with a solid rest and a light, accurate load, then move to sitting and kneeling positions once the basics feel natural. Hearing and eye protection make a big difference in how much a new shooter enjoys practice. A quality 3-9x or 2-7x scope with good eye relief and a comfortable sling round out a great first hunting setup.

Care and Maintenance

Cerakote and a synthetic stock make this rifle easy to care for. After a wet hunt, wipe it down, run a dry patch through the bore and let it air out of the case overnight. Clean the barrel every few hundred rounds, keep a light coat of oil on the bolt lugs and check the action screws and scope mounts before each season.

Before You Buy

The short stock is designed for smaller shooters; taller adults may find it cramped even with the spacers installed. No scope, base, rings or muzzle device is included, and the thread protector should stay on whenever a brake or suppressor is not mounted. The 6.5 PRC recoils more than a 6.5 Creedmoor, so very young or recoil-sensitive shooters may prefer a milder cartridge to start.

Who It Is For

The Bergara Stoke Compact PRC is a great fit for smaller-framed hunters and older youth who want extra long-range reach over a Creedmoor in a rifle that truly fits them.
