Description
The Bergara Ridge Carbon Wilderness Creedmoor is a weather-ready rifle from the Bergara Wilderness series, finished in Sniper Gray Cerakote from muzzle to bolt shroud. This configuration (Bergara model B14S522CF, UPC 043125016020) pairs a 22-inch CURE carbon barrel with a SoftTouch woodland camo synthetic stock and a hinged floorplate magazine, and it weighs about 6.5 pounds.
Bergara Ridge Carbon Wilderness Creedmoor Overview
Bergara is one of the most respected barrel makers in the world, building barrels in Spain for its own rifles and for other top manufacturers. The Ridge puts that barrel on the super-smooth B-14 action at a price everyday hunters can afford, and it comes with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee when used with quality factory ammunition. Every Wilderness Ridge ships with an Omni muzzle brake on a threaded 5/8×24 muzzle to tame recoil.
CURE Carbon Barrel and Omni Muzzle Brake
The CURE carbon barrel wraps a steel liner in carbon fiber with embedded stainless strands that move heat, so it stays straight and accurate as it warms while trimming weight from the front of the rifle. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and comes with the Omni brake installed; the same threads accept a suppressor. The action wears Sniper Gray Cerakote.
Smooth B-14 Action
The B-14 action uses a two-lug bolt with a sliding plate extractor and a coned bolt nose and breech for smooth feeding and extraction. The receiver is drilled and tapped for standard Remington 700 short-action scope bases, so you have endless mounting options.
Why the 6.5 Creedmoor Fits
The 6.5 Creedmoor fires long, high-BC bullets with mild recoil, which makes it easy to shoot well and deadly on deer, pronghorn and black bear. It is one of the most widely stocked rifle cartridges in America, and the 1:8 twist stabilizes the heavy 140 to 147 grain bullets the round is known for. The hinged floorplate magazine holds 4 rounds and makes unloading quick and safe at the end of the day.
Woodland Camo SoftTouch Stock
The synthetic stock shrugs off weather that can move a wood stock, and the camo pattern blends into timber and brush. A SoftTouch coating gives a secure grip with wet or gloved hands, and sling studs come installed.
Choosing Ammunition
Try two or three quality loads and pick the one that groups best from your barrel. Once you find it, buy enough of a single lot to sight in, practice and use all season so your zero and your drops stay the same.
Setting Up Optics
A 3-9×40 or 4-12×40 scope in sturdy rings is a great all-around match. Zero at 100 yards, then confirm where the bullet lands at 200 and 300 yards so you know exactly where to hold when the moment comes.
Practice Before the Season
Spend a few range days shooting from the positions you will actually use in the field: sitting with shooting sticks, kneeling and off a backpack. Practice working the bolt without lifting your head from the stock so follow-up shots come quickly when they matter.
Hunting Season Checklist
Pack a sling, a spare box of ammunition, scope covers and a copy of your license and tags. Double check that your scope rings and base screws are tight before every trip.
Care and Maintenance
Clean the bore with a copper solvent after the range and after the hunt, wipe the bolt and lugs, and put a light coat of oil on exposed metal. Store the rifle muzzle down so oil does not drain into the stock.
Safe Storage at Home
Store the rifle unloaded in a locked safe or cabinet with ammunition kept separately, and teach everyone in the household basic safety rules.
