Description
The Bergara B-14R Crest Carbon is a lightweight rimfire rifle built for shooters who want centerfire-level feel and accuracy from a .22 LR. This configuration (Bergara model B14R008, UPC 043125017928) pairs an 18-inch carbon fiber barrel with Bergara’s 100 percent carbon fiber Crest stock in gray, and it weighs only about 6.2 pounds.
Bergara B-14R Crest Carbon Overview
The B-14R has earned a reputation as one of the best production precision .22 rifles available, and this version strips weight without giving up stiffness. The Bergara B-14R Crest Carbon is built on a Remington 700 footprint, so it accepts a huge range of aftermarket triggers, scope bases and accessories. That makes it an ideal rimfire trainer for anyone who shoots a centerfire hunting or match rifle and wants the same feel at a fraction of the ammunition cost.
Carbon Fiber Barrel, Threaded for a Suppressor
The 18-inch carbon fiber barrel in a No. 6 contour keeps the rifle balanced and stiff while trimming weight from the muzzle end. A 1:16 twist suits standard and match-grade .22 LR loads, and the muzzle is threaded for your favorite rimfire suppressor, which makes this a quiet, pleasant rifle for backyard practice and small-game hunting.
Crest Carbon Stock
The stock is made with CF-RTM technology, where dry carbon fiber is laid by hand and injected with resin, then reinforced with an internal carbon spine for rigidity. Length-of-pull spacers let you fit the rifle to adults and younger shooters alike, and the gray finish looks sharp while hiding the scuffs of real use.
Floating Bolt and AICS-Size Magazine
The rimfire action uses a floating bolt head with a non-rotating gas shield for smooth, consistent cycling. The single-stack 10-round magazine is built to the same outside dimensions as a short-action AICS magazine, so it feels just like your centerfire rig during mag changes in NRL22 and PRS rimfire matches.
Practice Tips
Rimfire accuracy depends heavily on ammunition, so test a few brands of standard-velocity and match .22 LR to see what your barrel likes best. Mount a scope with a mil or MOA reticle that matches your centerfire optic, then practice holds and wind calls at 50 and 100 yards. Shooting from a bag, a tripod and field positions builds skills that carry straight over to hunting season.
Why Train With a Rimfire
Every shot you take with a quality .22 builds the same fundamentals you need with a big-game rifle: natural point of aim, trigger control, follow-through and reading the wind. Ammunition costs a small fraction of centerfire loads, recoil is almost nothing, and many indoor and outdoor ranges allow rimfire where they limit magnums. A few hundred rounds a month keeps your skills sharp between hunting seasons and match weekends.
