Description
The Beretta PX4 G-SD Full Size is the Special Duty specification of Beretta’s rotating-barrel pistol at full capacity. The change that matters is the barrel: a heavy-contour Black Inox rotating barrel instead of the standard profile, adding mass exactly where it helps the pistol settle between shots.
This is part number JXF9G17SD: 9mm Luger, a 4-inch barrel, a Black Bruniton steel slide over a polymer frame with a Picatinny rail. The G in that number means the Beretta PX4 G-SD Full Size is decocker only, with no manual safety to leave engaged.
What Special Duty means here
- A heavy-contour barrel, thicker and heavier than the standard PX4 item
- Black Inox rather than a coated carbon barrel, so better corrosion resistance
- Decocker-only controls with no safety position to sweep off under pressure
- The rotating-barrel locking system shared with every PX4
- A Picatinny rail moulded into the dust cover for a weapon light

Rotating barrel plus heavy contour
- The barrel rotates rather than tilts, converting recoil into rotation instead of muzzle rise
- Extra barrel mass damps whatever movement the rotation does not absorb
- The combination tracks flatter than any standard polymer-framed pistol of this size
- The bore stays parallel to the slide through the whole cycle
- Recoil energy is unchanged; only the direction it is delivered in changes

A note on magazines
Distributor data for this part number lists both a 20-round and a 17-round magazine, and our supplier’s own listing carries both figures. Before you order, contact MAG5 Firearms and we will confirm exactly which magazines are in the box on the Beretta PX4 G-SD Full Size currently in stock.
That matters for two reasons: what you are paying for, and whether the magazines supplied are lawful where you live. Capacity rules differ between states and sometimes between municipalities.
Decocker only, and why duty specifications ask for it
On a pistol with a combined safety and decocker it is possible to draw the gun with the safety engaged and press a dead trigger. The Beretta PX4 G-SD Full Size removes that failure mode: the lever decocks and springs straight back to fire.
It is what almost every agency issuing a hammer-fired pistol specifies. For practice, CCI Blazer Brass is the economical option, and cartridge dimensions and maximum pressures are published by SAAMI.
Setting it up
The rail on the Beretta PX4 G-SD Full Size takes a standard weapon light with no adapter, and on a pistol kept for defence that is the first thing to buy. Identifying a target is not optional.
The double-action first shot means the pistol can be stored hammer-down with a round chambered and still be ready with one long trigger pull, which is a safer arrangement than depending on a manual safety.
Why this pistol earns its place
- A heavy-contour Black Inox barrel, which the standard PX4 does not have
- The Beretta PX4 G-SD Full Size is decocker only, with no manual safety to leave engaged
- A rotating-barrel action almost nobody else builds at this price
- A rail for a light and a hammer you can see and decock
- Beretta’s United States parts and service network is as deep as anyone’s
The Beretta PX4 G-SD Full Size suits duty use, home defence and anyone who wants the flattest-tracking PX4 Beretta makes. In a capacity-restricted state the ten-round G-SD is the same pistol, and the standard PX4 Storm Full Size has the lighter barrel.
