Description
The Beretta BRX1 6.5 Creedmoor OD Green is the olive-stocked version of Beretta’s straight-pull rifle in the cartridge that has taken over deer camps and long-range clubs alike. The stock colour is the only difference from the black-stocked gun, and on a rifle that spends its life leaning against trees and riding in truck beds, olive hides scratches in a way black does not.
This is part number JBRX1G382/22: 6.5 Creedmoor, five rounds plus one, a 22-inch threaded black steel barrel, a receiver with an integral Picatinny rail, and an OD Green synthetic stock with a fixed negative comb and adjustable length of pull.
What the straight-pull action does for you
- The bolt travels straight back and forward with no lift, so your head never leaves the stock
- The scope picture survives the cycle, which means you can watch your own shot land
- Faster follow-up shots than a turn-bolt without crossing into semi-automatic territory
- The bolt handle swaps sides, so the Beretta BRX1 6.5 Creedmoor OD Green works equally well left-handed
- Short stroke, worked with the firing hand barely moving

Why so many hunters have moved to 6.5 Creedmoor
- Recoil light enough that most shooters stop flinching, which fixes more misses than ballistics ever will
- High ballistic coefficients, so the bullet drifts less in crosswind at distance
- Flat enough trajectory that a small range estimation error is forgiving
- Enough energy for deer at any sensible range and elk with the right bullet
- Factory ammunition and components are widely available and still growing

The modular argument
Beretta built the BRX1 so barrels and bolt heads can be changed by the owner. That makes the Beretta BRX1 6.5 Creedmoor OD Green the start of a system rather than a single rifle: the action, the stock and the trigger stay, and a different barrel turns it into a different calibre. For anyone who would otherwise buy a second rifle, the arithmetic is worth doing.
If you load your own, Nosler 6.5 Creedmoor brass and a 6.5 Creedmoor deluxe die set are in stock. Cartridge dimensions and maximum pressures are published by SAAMI.
Threads, brakes and the law
The muzzle on the Beretta BRX1 6.5 Creedmoor OD Green is threaded, which takes a brake or a thread protector directly with no gunsmithing. A brake on a 6.5 Creedmoor is arguably unnecessary given how little the cartridge recoils, but it does help a spotter stay on the target.
A suppressor is a different matter. It is an NFA item requiring an ATF application and approval before transfer, and MAG5 Firearms does not deal in NFA items. The threads themselves are unregulated.
Why this rifle earns its place
- A straight-pull action built by a maker with the manufacturing depth to do it properly
- OD Green hides field wear better than a black stock on a rifle that gets used
- User-changeable barrels and bolt heads, so the Beretta BRX1 6.5 Creedmoor OD Green can follow you into other calibres
- A Picatinny rail machined into the receiver rather than bolted on
- Adjustable length of pull, so it fits over a jacket as well as a shirt
The Beretta BRX1 6.5 Creedmoor OD Green suits a hunter who spends real time in the field and wants a rifle that still looks presentable after a few seasons. The same rifle is offered with a black stock, in .308 Winchester, and in 300 Winchester Magnum.
