Description
The Beretta 92FS Police Special 15 Round is a full-size 9mm double/single-action pistol built on the legendary 92FS and packaged the way police agencies buy it, with extra magazines included. It is ready for the range, home defense, or duty-style training right out of the box.
Beretta 92FS Police Special 15 Round Overview
The Beretta 92FS served as the U.S. military’s standard sidearm, the M9, for more than three decades, and police agencies around the world have carried it. The Police Special package is mechanically a 92FS: an aluminum alloy frame, a steel slide with the signature open-top design, and a durable matte black finish. Beretta offers the package through its law enforcement program, but this model is sold to civilian buyers through licensed dealers where state law allows. The extra magazines in the box save you from buying spares right away.
Open-Slide Action
The pistol uses Beretta’s open-slide, short-recoil delayed locking-block system. The barrel stays in line as it unlocks rather than tilting, which many shooters credit for the 92FS’s accuracy and soft, flat recoil. The open slide ejects brass cleanly and makes it easy to clear malfunctions.
Trigger and Safety
The first shot is a longer double-action pull, followed by short, light single-action shots. The ambidextrous slide-mounted safety doubles as a decocker, safely dropping the hammer when engaged. Practice the transition from the first double-action shot to single action for best accuracy.
Sights and Ergonomics
Three-dot sights offer a quick, familiar sight picture in daylight. They are not illuminated, so many owners upgrade to tritium night sights. The grip is generous, which tames recoil but gives smaller hands a long double-action reach. The magazine release is reversible for left-handed shooters.
Magazines Included
The package comes with three magazines. Distributor listings for this UPC describe a 15-round capacity, while our original listing mentioned 10-round magazines, so please confirm capacity with us before ordering if it matters for your state. Beretta 92 magazines are widely available and affordable.
Durability
The 92FS has a reputation for running reliably through very high round counts. The aluminum frame keeps weight around 33 ounces; replace recoil springs on schedule to protect it. A tool-free takedown lever makes field stripping fast.
About the Police Special Name
The Police Special name refers to Beretta’s law enforcement package rather than a different pistol design. The gallery photos show the standard Beretta 92FS, which shares this pistol’s look and finish.
State Laws
Handgun rosters and magazine capacity limits vary by state. Check your local regulations before ordering, and your receiving FFL dealer can help confirm this pistol is legal where you live.
