Beretta 1301 Tactical C Mod 2 OD Green Overview

The 1301 Tactical earned its reputation with law enforcement and competitive shooters because it cycles quickly and runs reliably with a wide range of loads. The Mod 2 update reworked the ergonomics with an aggressively knurled forend, M-LOK attachment slots, a semi-flat tactical trigger and Beretta’s Pro-Lifter. The C version applies an OD Green Cerakote finish to the metalwork that matches the synthetic stock and forend, giving the gun a uniform look and extra protection against corrosion and wear. Note that our earlier listing called this model the Tactical Comp; Beretta designates it the 1301 Tactical C Mod 2.

B-Link Gas System

The B-Link system uses an oversized gas port and a piston that bleeds gas efficiently, and Beretta rates it as cycling noticeably faster than conventional gas-operated shotguns. In practice that means quick follow-up shots and smooth handling of full-power buckshot and slugs. Gas operation also softens recoil compared with a pump or inertia gun of similar weight. Very light target loads may not cycle as reliably as heavier defensive shells, so test your chosen ammunition before trusting the gun for serious use.

Controls and Loading

The Mod 2 has an oversized charging handle, a large textured bolt release and an oversized reversible safety button, all easy to find with gloves or under stress. The Pro-Lifter keeps the lifter out of the way while you load the magazine tube, which prevents pinched thumbs and allows faster reloads. A semi-flat trigger blade gives a consistent finger position. Like most tactical semi-autos, the 1301 takes practice to load quickly, and a side saddle or buttstock shell carrier is a worthwhile addition.

Sights, Rail and Forend

Sighting is handled by a ghost ring rear and blade front, which are quick and rugged for shotgun distances. The receiver has an integrated Picatinny rail for a red dot sight, and the knurled forend has M-LOK slots for a weapon light. A quick-detach barrel clamp provides a sling attachment point near the muzzle. If you mount a red dot, choose a mount height that works with the stock comb so you can still use the ghost ring as a backup.

Barrel and Chokes

The 18.5-inch barrel has a 3-inch chamber and accepts Beretta OptimaBore HP choke tubes, with an improved cylinder tube listed for this model. Improved cylinder keeps buckshot patterns tight enough for across-the-room distances while still working with slugs. Pattern your defensive load at the distances you expect to use it, because buckshot spread varies widely between brands.

Home Use and Competition

For home defense, the 1301 offers 7+1 rounds of 12 gauge in a package that measures about 37.8 inches long and weighs roughly 6.4 pounds. That length is manageable in hallways, and the light weight makes it quick to shoulder. Competitors like the fast cycle rate for 3-gun stages. The tradeoff is muzzle blast and recoil that are much heavier than a pistol caliber carbine, so practice with lighter loads before moving to full-power shells.

State Laws and Ownership

Pennsylvania buyers can complete the transfer at our shop, and customers in other states can have the shotgun shipped to a licensed dealer near them. Some states restrict tactical shotgun features or magazine capacity, so confirm your local rules before ordering.
