Description
The Beretta 1301 Comp Pro 12 Gauge 24 is the long-barrel version of Beretta’s top competition semi-auto, pairing a 24-inch barrel with the Pro stock, Kick-Off Plus recoil reduction, an enlarged loading port, and oversized controls. The extra barrel length gives a steadier swing on crossing targets while keeping the lightning-fast action that made the 1301 famous.
Beretta 1301 Comp Pro 12 Gauge 24 Overview
Beretta, the Italian gunmaker with nearly five centuries of history, developed the 1301 Comp Pro after its standard Comp earned podium finishes at world championship events. Its medal-winning shooters suggested the changes: a new stock that stays steady on the cheek, faster loading, and bigger controls. The 24-inch model is the choice for shooters who mix practical shotgun with sporting clays, or who simply prefer the smoother, more forward-weighted balance of a longer barrel.
Gas System and Rotating Bolt
Every 1301 uses the B-Link gas system with a rotating bolt head, which Beretta says has a cycling speed 36 percent faster than any other semi-automatic. It runs light target loads and heavier field and defensive loads without adjustment. Keep the piston and gas ports clean for best performance during long match days.
Kick-Off Plus and Split Stock
Two elastomer dampeners with return springs in the stock reduce the first recoil peak, and a third dampener in the stock bolt softens the second peak and muzzle jump. Beretta rates the reduction at up to 40 percent. The B-Steady design splits the stock so the butt stays still while the forend section moves back, keeping your cheek planted and your eye on the target. A soft comb insert adds comfort.
Longer Barrel Advantages
A 24-inch barrel puts a little more weight forward, which helps the gun swing smoothly and resist stopping on crossing targets. It also extends the sight plane for more precise shots. The tradeoff is slightly slower handling on tight, close stages compared with the 21-inch version. The barrel accepts Beretta interchangeable chokes and carries a fiber-optic front sight.
Loading and Controls
The receiver has a beveled loading port and an oversized 3.5-inch-style lifter to make quad-loading easier, even though the chamber is 3 inches. Oversized bolt handle and bolt release levers are easy to hit under stress. In the United States, the gun ships plugged to 2+1; magazine extensions are popular for competition divisions.
Fit and Finish
Spacers and shims let you adjust length of pull, drop, and cast. The receiver is blue anodized aluminum alloy for a light, durable, and distinctive look, and the polymer furniture with rubber grip inserts stays secure in wet weather.
Care and Maintenance
Clean the gas system and bolt after heavy use, and inspect the recoil dampeners periodically. Carry spare O-rings and a basic cleaning kit to matches.
State Laws
Some states restrict semi-automatic shotgun features or magazine capacity. Check your local regulations before ordering, and your receiving FFL dealer can help confirm the gun is legal where you live.
