Description
The Barnes VOR-TX 6mm Creedmoor 95gr LRX BT is the flattest shooting hunting load Barnes builds in a short action. An all copper LRX leaves the muzzle at roughly 3150 fps carrying about 2094 ft-lbs, behind a 0.436 G1 ballistic coefficient. The 6mm Creedmoor gives up very little to its 6.5 sibling on deer sized game while recoiling even less and shooting noticeably flatter. Each box holds 20 rounds.

Barnes VOR-TX 6mm Creedmoor 95gr LRX BT Overview
The LRX is the long range member of the Barnes copper family, built with a deeper hollow cavity beneath the polymer tip so it opens at considerably lower impact velocities, down around 1600 fps rather than the 2000 or so a standard copper hunting bullet needs.
In a 6mm that design choice does a lot of work. A 95 grain bullet has limited mass to begin with, so a design that opens reliably and then holds together is the difference between a clean kill and a wounded animal. Recovered LRX bullets typically retain close to all of their weight.
95 Grain LRX Boat Tail Performance
At 95 grains this is heavy for a 6mm copper bullet. Copper is less dense than lead, so a 95 grain monolithic bullet is physically longer than a 95 grain lead core one, and that length is what carries the ballistic coefficient. It is also why twist rate is worth checking before you buy a box.
Barnes machines relief grooves into the bearing surface of the Barnes VOR-TX 6mm Creedmoor 95gr LRX projectile. The grooves cut bore contact, lowering pressure and reducing copper fouling, which matters in a small bore pushing a long bullet at 3150 fps.
Why Hunters Choose 6mm Creedmoor Deer Ammo
The 6mm Creedmoor is the 6.5 necked down, and it does exactly what you would expect. Less recoil, flatter trajectory, slightly less energy on target. For deer, antelope and hogs at any sensible distance, that is a favourable trade, and it is a genuinely excellent cartridge for a smaller framed or younger hunter.
What this 6mm Creedmoor deer ammo fixes is the bullet problem. A great deal of 6mm ammunition is loaded with varmint bullets that come apart on a deer shoulder, or with match bullets that were never designed for terminal performance at all. A monolithic copper bullet removes both concerns.
Be clear about the ceiling. This is a deer and antelope cartridge. It is legal for elk in some states and it will kill one with perfect placement, but it is not the right tool and nothing about a 95 grain bullet changes that.

Range Notes For This Polymer Tipped Copper Bullet
Twist rate is the one thing to verify. Most 6mm Creedmoor barrels run 1 in 7.5 or 1 in 8, both of which stabilize a long 95 grain copper bullet easily. A slower twist in an older or custom barrel may not, and you will see it as oval holes in paper.
A polymer tipped copper bullet prints to a different point of impact than the match ammunition many 6mm owners practise with. Zero with this exact load, foul a clean barrel with a round or two first, then leave the scope alone.
At 3150 fps the Barnes VOR-TX 6mm Creedmoor 95gr LRX stays above its expansion threshold past 600 yards from a full length barrel. Chronograph a short barrel before stretching out, and store the ammunition cool and dry.
