Description
The Barnes VOR-TX 260 Rem 120gr TTSX BT is factory hunting ammunition for a 6.5 cartridge that quietly did everything the modern 6.5s are praised for, twenty years earlier. Barnes drives an all copper Tipped TSX out of the muzzle at roughly 2950 fps, carrying about 2319 ft-lbs of energy behind a 0.412 ballistic coefficient. Flat trajectory, low recoil and deep penetration in a short action rifle. Each box holds 20 rounds.

Barnes VOR-TX 260 Rem 120gr TTSX BT Overview
The projectile is machined from a solid copper billet, so there is no lead core to shed and no jacket to peel away. A polymer tip caps the hollow nose, protects it in the magazine and drives rearward on impact to begin expansion immediately rather than waiting for hydraulic pressure to build.
The nose then opens into four sharp copper petals that reach roughly double the original diameter and stay attached to the shank. Recovered bullets typically retain close to all of their original weight, which is why a light 120 grain bullet still punches through a shoulder and exits.
120 Grain TTSX Boat Tail Performance
The 120 grain TTSX boat tail is the practical choice in this cartridge. A monolithic copper bullet is longer than a lead core bullet of the same weight, and 120 grains keeps overall length reasonable enough to seat properly in a short action magazine. The boat tail base trims drag and helps hold velocity downrange.
Barnes machines relief grooves into the bearing surface of the Barnes VOR-TX 260 Rem 120gr TTSX projectile. Those grooves reduce bore contact, which lowers pressure, limits copper fouling and helps a long solid bullet group well out of an ordinary factory barrel.
Why Hunters Choose 260 Remington Hunting Ammo
The 260 Remington is a 308 case necked down to 6.5, which means it runs in any short action, feeds from a standard magazine and burns modest powder charges. Recoil is mild enough that a smaller framed hunter can shoot it well, and the high sectional density of a 6.5 bullet does the rest. For deer, antelope, black bear and even elk at sensible distance, it is hard to argue with.
Factory ammunition for the cartridge has always been thinner on the ground than for the newer 6.5s, so a premium copper loading matters. This 260 Remington hunting ammo gives owners a serious big game option without turning to handloading.
Twist rate is worth checking. Most 260 barrels run 1 in 8 or 1 in 9, both of which stabilize a 120 grain copper bullet without trouble.

Range Notes For This Polymer Tipped Copper Bullet
A polymer tipped copper bullet normally prints to a slightly different point of impact than lead core ammunition, so zero with the exact load you plan to hunt. Foul a clean barrel with a round or two first, then shoot your group and leave the scope alone.
Copper needs impact velocity to expand. With a 0.412 ballistic coefficient the Barnes VOR-TX 260 Rem 120gr TTSX holds speed well and stays above reliable expansion velocity past 500 yards in most barrels, which is farther than most hunters should be shooting at game.
Barnes packs the load 20 rounds to a box, enough for a zero check and a season. Buy two boxes from the same lot if you plan to practice at distance, and store them cool and dry so your zero holds year to year.
