Description
ATI 20 Gauge Target Load is the inexpensive end of the clay shelf. A 2-3/4 inch shell carrying 7/8 ounce of number 8 shot at 1,210 feet per second, printed on the box, twenty five rounds. It exists so that a day of informal shooting does not cost more than the fuel to get there.

What a Budget Target Shell Actually Gives Up
It is worth being straight about where an economy shell differs from a premium one, because the difference is real and it is also smaller than the price gap suggests. Premium target loads use harder, higher antimony shot and better hulls. Harder pellets deform less through the choke, so the pattern holds together further out.
ATI 20 Gauge Target Load uses softer shot than a top tier clay shell. In practice that means the pattern opens a little sooner and the fringes get thinner past thirty yards. On close skeet, informal trap and plinking at clays in a field, you will not notice. On a long sporting clays presentation you will.
The hull is the other difference with ATI 20 Gauge Target Load. Budget shells are not built for repeated reloading the way a premium hull is, so if you save your empties expect fewer firings out of them. If you do not reload, that costs you nothing at all.
ATI 20 Gauge Target Load Specifications
ATI 20 Gauge Target Load is loaded for American Tactical, the Georgia based importer better known for its rifles and shotguns. The velocity figure of 1,210 fps is printed on the box itself. Some retailers list this shell at 1,220 fps, a trivial difference and probably a rounding artefact in a catalogue, and we have gone with what the packaging says.
Number 8 shot at 7/8 ounce is the standard sub gauge clay recipe. It gives a dense pattern at skeet and close trap distances, and it is what most twenty gauge target shooters use by default.
Recoil from ATI 20 Gauge Target Load is mild. A 7/8 ounce payload at these velocities in a twenty gauge is comfortable for a long session, which is the whole point of a practice shell. It also makes this a reasonable load for a newer or smaller framed shooter learning to break clays.

When to Buy Cheap Shells and When Not To
Buy ATI 20 Gauge Target Load for volume. If the goal is to break a hundred birds on a Saturday and shoot again next weekend, the cost per round matters more than the last few percent of pattern quality. A shooter who fires a case of budget shells will improve faster than one who fires two boxes of premium and stops because of the bill.
Buy premium for competition and long presentations. If you are registered shooting or facing thirty five yard crossers, harder shot holds the pattern together where it counts. Our Fiocchi Premium Target 20 Gauge uses high antimony lead for exactly that reason.
Check that your gun likes ATI 20 Gauge Target Load. Cheap shells are not less safe, but lighter loads sometimes will not cycle a semi automatic reliably, particularly a gas gun set up for heavier fodder. Run a box through before you buy a case. If your gun is fussy, the slightly heavier or faster options are the fix.
This is lead shot. That rules it out anywhere non toxic shot is required, which covers all waterfowl hunting and a growing number of public upland areas. It is a clays and plinking shell and not a substitute for a non toxic hunting load.
Wash your hands after a session and do not eat at the bench. Lead hygiene is basic and high volume shooters are the ones most casual about it. If you want to drill gun handling at home without ammunition, our A-Zoom 20 gauge snap caps cover that safely.
ATI 20 Gauge Target Load is honest budget ammunition and does not pretend otherwise. Buy it to shoot a lot, keep a box of premium for the days that matter, and your twenty gauge will get far more use than it would on premium shells alone. Ships from our licensed inventory in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, with adult signature required on delivery.
A note on availability and consistency. Imported budget shells arrive in batches and lots can vary more than premium ammunition does. If you find a lot your gun likes and you shoot a great deal, buying a case of the same lot is worth doing rather than mixing several.
Store them somewhere dry. Paper-thin crimps on economy hulls swell in humidity faster than premium ones, and a swollen crimp is what turns a cheap shell into a jam.
