Description
The Athlon Optics Midas Beam TSR1 Red Dot is the largest window pistol dot in the Athlon line. Its roughly 32 x 24mm window makes the 3 MOA dot easy to find, and Athlon includes a Picatinny mount so the same sight can go on an optic ready pistol, a carbine or a shotgun.

Athlon Optics Midas Beam TSR1 Red Dot Overview
Athlon catalogs the Midas Beam as part 403073. It weighs about 1.95 oz, is about 1.77 in long and has a center height of about 0.68 in. The housing is aircraft grade aluminum built on a one piece chassis, and windage and elevation adjust in 1 MOA clicks. The lenses are fully multi-coated to cut reflections and keep the image bright.
Battery Life and Wake Up
One CR2032 battery gives up to about 50,000 hours at a medium brightness setting. A built in motion sensor puts the sight to sleep when it sits still and wakes it as soon as the gun moves, so the dot is ready when you pick it up.

Mounting
On a pistol, the Midas Beam mounts to slides cut for the RMR footprint or to an RMR plate. On a rifle or shotgun, use the included Picatinny mount. Our store title mentions a dr footprint; Athlon lists the footprint as RMR.
A 3 MOA Dot
A 3 MOA dot covers about three quarters of an inch at 25 yards and about three inches at 100 yards. That balance works well on both a pistol and a carbine.

Built for Hard Use
Athlon builds its red dots to be waterproof, fogproof and shockproof, and backs them with its Gold Medal Lifetime Warranty. The warranty is transferable and does not require a receipt, so the sight stays covered even if it changes hands.
Why a Red Dot on a Pistol
With iron sights you have to line up a rear notch, a front post and the target, and your eye can only focus on one of them. With a red dot you keep both eyes open, focus on the target and put the dot on it. Most shooters see faster first shots and better follow up shots once they learn to present the gun so the dot lands in the window.
Zeroing Tips
Most pistol shooters zero a red dot at 15 to 25 yards. Start close to get on paper, then move back and adjust. Fire groups of three to five shots before each change, and confirm zero with the ammunition you plan to carry.
Battery Care
Replace the battery once a year on a defensive gun, even if the dot still looks fine, and keep a spare in your range bag. Wipe the lens with a soft cloth or lens pen, not a shirt tail, to keep the coatings clean. If the dot seems dim or flickers, check the battery and contacts first.
Ordering and Transfer
When you order a firearm from MAG5 Firearms, we ship it to the licensed dealer you choose. Your dealer completes the ATF Form 4473 and the background check, and may charge a transfer fee. Local buyers can complete the transfer at our shop. Bring a valid ID, and check your state waiting period before you plan a hunt or a range trip.
Safe Storage
Store the firearm unloaded in a locked safe or case, with ammunition kept separately. A cable lock or trigger lock is a good backup, especially in a home with children or visitors. Keep the original box and paperwork, and record the serial number in a safe place in case the gun is ever lost or stolen.
