Description
The Arsenal SAM7SF-56 Gray is the current-generation milled Bulgarian AK with the stock, polymer grip and handguards and the supplied 10-round magazine finished in gray Cerakote. Against the black receiver and barrel the effect is restrained rather than loud, which is why gray has quietly become one of the more popular finishes in the lineup. Underneath it sits the same hot-die hammer-forged and CNC-milled receiver, chrome-lined hammer-forged barrel and enhanced fire control group as every other SAM7SF-56.
The Aluminum Side-Folding Stock
The buttstock on the Arsenal SAM7SF-56 Gray is CNC machined from a single piece of aluminum, hard anodized for strength, then Cerakoted to match the furniture. The attachment hardware is heat-treated carbon steel, and Arsenal machines the parts in house down to the rivets, which are turned on a CNC machine so they seat flush against the receiver.
It carries a machined cheek weld groove rather than the bare tube of the previous generation, which makes a consistent head position far easier to find behind an optic, and four non-rotating QD points are built into the stock so a sling can be run from either side without adapters.

A note on the factory photography: some of Arsenal’s images for this model show a 30-round M-47W magazine and a cleaning rod fitted. Neither is included — the rifle ships with a single colour-matched 10-round magazine, which keeps it transferable in states that cap capacity. Standard AK-pattern magazines fit where local law allows, though they will not match the finish. Remember that 922(r) compliance depends on the count of imported parts fitted.
Why it is worth considering
- Gray Cerakote across stock, furniture and the supplied magazine
- CNC-machined aluminum folding stock with a cheek weld groove, not a bare tube
- Four non-rotating QD sling points, usable from either side
- Hot-die hammer-forged and CNC-milled receiver rather than stamped sheet steel
- Chrome-lined hammer-forged barrel with a 24×1.5mm threaded muzzle
- Integrated side rail that holds an optic zero through folding and disassembly
Who it suits
The Arsenal SAM7SF-56 Gray suits the shooter who wants the modern SAM7SF hardware in something other than black without going as far as plum or olive drab. Mechanically it is identical to the rest of the SAM7SF-56 line, so the choice is a matter of taste — and gray is the one that looks equally at home on a range bench and in a safe.

Ammunition and Optics for the Arsenal SAM7SF-56 Gray
7.62×39 remains one of the cheapest centerfire rifle cartridges to shoot in volume, and the chrome-lined bore handles steel-case ammunition without complaint. Brass-case loads in the 123-grain range give the best accuracy, while bulk steel-case practice ammunition is perfectly workable for range days. Brush the bore after any corrosive surplus and the barrel will last the life of the rifle. Full model specifications and the current colour lineup are published by the manufacturer at Arsenal Inc.
The same rifle is offered in black, plum and olive drab if gray is not your preference. Compare it against the black SAM7SF-56, the OD green version, the fixed-stock Arsenal SAM7R, browse our full range of Arsenal Inc. rifles, or look through the wider firearms catalog.
