Description
The AmeriGlo 8XL Tall Black Glock Sights (AmeriGlo GL-528) are among the tallest iron sights AmeriGlo makes for Glock pistols. The front is a .475 inch black serrated post and the rear is a flat black blade with an overall height of .578 inch. With no dots or tritium, they give a clean, all-black sight picture designed to co-witness with taller red dot setups and to clear large pistol suppressors.
AmeriGlo 8XL Tall Black Glock Sights Overview
Some optic mounting systems sit higher than a direct-milled slide, and some suppressors have a large diameter that blocks standard and even typical suppressor-height sights. The 8XL height gives extra room for those setups. AmeriGlo lists the rear blade height at .498 inch and the overall rear height at .578 inch, and the set is listed to fit all Glock models.
Why All Black
Blacked-out sights are a favorite among competition shooters and many trainers. Without dots to distract the eye, the shooter focuses on the top edge of the front post and the shape of the rear notch, which supports fast, precise sight alignment in daylight. Fine serrations on the faces cut glare so the posts stay crisp under bright sun or overhead range lights.
Co-Witness With Taller Optics
On optics that sit high on an adapter plate, standard suppressor-height sights may disappear below the window. The extra height of the 8XL set brings the irons up into view on many of these setups. Exact co-witness depends on your red dot deck height and plate, so check those dimensions before ordering if precise alignment matters.
Installation
The front sight installs with a small hex screw from inside the slide. The rear is drifted into the dovetail, ideally with a dedicated sight pusher to avoid marring the slide. Confirm your point of impact after installation, since very tall sights can shift impact compared with factory sights.
Holster and Carry Notes
Very tall sights need holster clearance. Most optics-cut and suppressor-ready holsters provide it, but older or tight-fitting holsters may rub or catch. Check fit before carrying, and practice your draw to make sure the sights do not snag on clothing.
Picking the Right Height
AmeriGlo offers several heights for Glock pistols, from standard to XL, 2XL, 5XL and 8XL. Shorter options suit pistols without optics, mid heights fit many direct-milled red dots and common suppressors, and the tallest options like this set suit high optic plates and large-diameter cans. Choosing the lowest height that still gives a clear sight picture keeps the pistol slimmer and easier to holster.
Honest Limitations
These sights have no tritium or fiber optic, so they are hard to see in very low light without a weapon light. Their height can look tall on a pistol without an optic or suppressor. Only one verified distributor photo of this exact set is currently available.
