Description
The AGM UNVG APW Night Vision Goggles (AGM item 12UN41284124111, UPC 810164390219) is a lightweight dual-tube night vision goggle with independently moving tube pods fitted with a Gen 2+ auto-gated image intensifier tube with a white P45 phosphor screen. Auto-gating rapidly cycles tube power so the image recovers quickly and the tube is protected when bright light appears, and white phosphor shows a natural black, white and gray image that many users find easier on the eyes than green.
AGM UNVG APW Night Vision Goggles Overview
The UNVG is AGM’s ultra-light dual-channel goggle. Two image intensifier tubes give true binocular vision with natural depth perception, which makes walking, driving on private land and handling gear far easier than with a single tube. The compact composite housing weighs about 1.1 pounds (500 g), and the 25mm F/1.23 multi-coated objective lenses give a 40 degree field of view at 1x, focusing from 0.25 meters to infinity.
A single AA battery in the housing runs the goggle for up to about 15 hours. The included external battery pack, worn on the back of a helmet, extends that to about 50 hours on four AA cells or about 30 hours on two CR123A cells, and it doubles as a useful counterweight.
Image Intensifier Tube
The APW configuration is the part of this listing that sets it apart from other UNVG versions: a Gen 2+ tube with white phosphor, with auto-gating. Note: photos show the UNVG housing, which is identical across tube options.
AGM grades its tubes by resolution and image cleanliness. For the exact resolution, figure of merit and blemish specification of the tube in this unit, check the AGM datasheet or ask us before you order.
Controls and Features
Gain is set manually to match the conditions, and each tube pod moves independently, so you can run both eyes or flip one pod aside to keep one eye unaided. Each tube switches off automatically when its pod is turned sideways, which saves battery and avoids eye glow.
An integral infrared illuminator provides close-range light for reading maps or working with gear in total darkness. The goggle fits standard dovetail headsets and helmet mounts, and diopter adjusts from -6 to +2.
What Is Included
The box includes the goggles, a remote battery pack, a connecting cable with battery adapter, two demist shields, two sacrificial windows, a neck strap, carrying case, lens cloth, user manual and an AA battery.
Who Benefits Most
This version suits buyers who want white phosphor and auto-gating without paying for Gen 3, users around mixed lighting, and hunters who spend long nights behind the glass.
Honest Limitations
Dual-tube goggles cost more than a single-tube monocular because you are buying two tubes, and the image in each eye can differ slightly in tint or brightness. A head mount or helmet mount is required for hands-free use and is sold separately.
Runtime on the internal AA cell is modest, so plan to carry the battery pack for long nights. Night vision image intensifiers are export-controlled and sold for use within the United States. Check AGM’s current warranty terms before you buy.
