Description
The AGM FoxBat-5 NL3 Bi-Ocular (AGM item 13FXB522103031, UPC 810027770547) is a 5x night vision bi-ocular for mid- and long-range observation fitted with a Gen 2+ Level 3 image intensifier tube with a green P43 phosphor screen. Level 3 is a higher AGM grade than Level 1, selected for better resolution and a cleaner image, while the green phosphor gives the traditional night vision view that the eye picks up easily in low light.
AGM FoxBat-5 NL3 Bi-Ocular Overview
This FoxBat-5 is the 5x108mm version of AGM’s bi-ocular. A single image intensifier tube feeds a beam splitter and two eyepieces, so you watch with both eyes open, which is far more comfortable than a monocular over a long sit. The distributor lists a 9.5 degree field of view, a weight of about 2.9 pounds and dimensions of about 10.3 by 5.5 by 3.1 inches, with a fog-proof and waterproof body.
It runs on a CR123A or AA battery for up to about 60 hours. Digital controls and a proximity sensor that shuts the unit off automatically when you lower it from your eyes save battery and protect the tube.
Image Intensifier Tube
The NL3 configuration is the part of this listing that sets it apart from other FoxBat-5 versions: a Gen 2+ tube with green phosphor, in AGM’s FOM 2000+ grade. Note: photos show this FoxBat-5 5x108mm model.
AGM grades its tubes by resolution and image cleanliness. For the exact resolution, figure of merit and blemish specification of the tube in this unit, check the AGM datasheet or ask us before you order.
Controls and Features
AGM includes a long-range infrared illuminator, which throws light well beyond a built-in illuminator, and the eyepieces adjust for diopter from -5 to +5. The body has a tripod mount for steady viewing over long sessions.
At 5x this is an observation tool rather than a navigation device. It is well suited to watching game trails, checking livestock, wildlife study and property security from a fixed position.
What Is Included
The box includes the bi-ocular, the Sioux850 long-range IR illuminator, wrist strap, neck lanyard, lens tissue, a CR123A lithium battery, soft carrying case and operator manual.
Who Benefits Most
This version suits buyers who want a cleaner Gen 2+ image than the entry grade, hunters glassing fields at distance, and observers who want magnified night viewing.
Honest Limitations
At 5x the field of view is narrow, so it is not meant for walking or driving, and any hand shake is magnified. A tripod is not included with this version, and the single tube means there is no true stereo depth.
At close to 3 pounds it is heavier than a 1x goggle. Night vision image intensifiers are export-controlled and sold for use within the United States. Check AGM’s current warranty terms before you buy.
