Description
The Beretta A300 Ultima Turkey 20 Gauge is the lighter half of Beretta’s dedicated turkey pair, and tungsten changed the argument for it. A 20 gauge used to be a compromise on a gobbler at 40 yards. With modern TSS loads it is not, and what you keep is a gun that is meaningfully easier to carry through a long morning of walking and calling.
This is part number J32KU24: 20 gauge, 3-inch chamber, 3+1 capacity, a 24-inch vent rib barrel and a Picatinny rail machined onto the receiver. Mossy Oak Bottomland covers the whole gun, and Kick-Off dampers sit in the stock. The Beretta A300 Ultima Turkey 20 Gauge is set up to take an optic straight out of the box.
Why hunters are moving to a 20 gauge turkey gun
- Less weight to carry on a run-and-gun morning, which is when most birds are killed
- Recoil that does not punish you from a seated, braced position
- Tungsten loads have closed the effective-range gap almost entirely
- A 24-inch barrel that swings inside a blind or around a tree trunk
- A factory Picatinny rail, so a red dot mounts with no gunsmithing

What a red dot does for a turkey hunter
- A turkey gun is aimed rather than pointed, and a bead is a crude aiming device at distance
- A dot lets you hold on the head and neck instead of guessing where the pattern centres
- It stays usable from awkward positions where cheek weld is inconsistent
- First legal light is exactly when a dot beats iron sights
- No drilling, no gunsmith and no warranty argument, because the rail is factory fitted

Patterning is not optional
A 20 gauge turkey gun rewards patterning more than a 12 does, because the margin is smaller. Put the Beretta A300 Ultima Turkey 20 Gauge on paper at 40 yards with a turkey head target, count pellets in a ten-inch circle, and try at least two loads and two chokes before the season. A good tungsten load through the right choke will surprise you; the wrong combination will leave gaps you would not accept.
Shotshell dimension and pressure standards are published by SAAMI. A 3-inch chamber will run 2.75-inch shells without adjustment, which makes patterning work considerably cheaper and more comfortable.
Twenty or twelve
The honest comparison is this. The 12 gauge version gives you cheaper shells, a wider choice of loads and a gun that will also handle waterfowl and clays. The Beretta A300 Ultima Turkey 20 Gauge gives you a lighter gun, less recoil and a package that a smaller-framed or younger hunter can shoot properly.
If turkey is the only job the gun will ever do, and you are willing to buy tungsten, the 20 is the better hunting tool. If you want one shotgun to cover several seasons, buy the 12.
Why this shotgun earns its place
- A factory Picatinny rail, which most turkey guns at this price still lack
- Kick-Off recoil reduction, which matters most when shooting seated and braced
- Full-coverage Bottomland rather than a camouflage dip on the stock alone
- The Beretta A300 Ultima Turkey 20 Gauge is gas-operated, softening recoil further compared with an inertia gun
- Light enough to carry all morning without thinking about it
The Beretta A300 Ultima Turkey 20 Gauge suits a hunter who covers ground, a smaller-framed or younger shooter, and anyone who has already decided to shoot tungsten. If you want the heavier gun and cheaper shells, the 12 gauge version is the same design, and for a duty or defensive configuration the A300 Ultima Patrol shares the action.
