Description

A-Zoom 9mm Luger Snap Caps are machined aluminum dummy rounds in 9x19mm, five to a pack. Nine millimeter is the caliber most people dry fire the most, which makes it the caliber where a proper snap cap earns its keep fastest.
How A-Zoom 9mm Luger Snap Caps Are Built
Each round is CNC machined from solid aluminum billet to the exact dimensions of a loaded cartridge and hard anodized. One piece, no separate case head, no plastic body, so nothing can shear off and jam a feed ramp or a barrel lockup.
The primer end carries a proprietary polymer cushion instead of a live primer, rated by A-Zoom past three thousand strikes. Most modern striker pistols tolerate dry fire, but plenty of older designs and some rimfire conversion units do not, and the cushion removes the question entirely.
Because A-Zoom 9mm Luger Snap Caps match loaded cartridge dimensions, they feed from a magazine, chamber and extract exactly like live ammunition. A dummy that does not do all three tells you nothing useful about the pistol.
Where Five Rounds Earn Their Keep
The ball and dummy drill is the single most useful thing you can do with these. Mixing A-Zoom 9mm Luger Snap Caps randomly into a magazine of live ammunition exposes a flinch instantly, because you get to watch the muzzle dip on a round that never fired. No amount of being told you are anticipating works as well as seeing it.
Magazine and extractor checks are the other job. Hand cycling dummies through each magazine tells you which one has tired feed lips, and confirming that the extractor holds a round is a sensible check after any slide or barrel work.
Weight is worth a note. Aluminum dummies are much lighter than loaded 9mm, so a magazine of them will not feel like a loaded magazine. That does not affect function checking, but never use magazine weight as a loaded indicator.

Field Notes
Malfunction clearance practice is worth naming. Loading a dummy behind a live round is how you rehearse a failure to fire drill safely, and it is the only way to make that drill feel like the real thing.
Storing a pistol with the striker down on a snap cap keeps the spring relaxed without leaving a cocked gun in the safe, and it costs far less than a firing pin.
The polymer cushion is a consumable. When the face is deeply cratered and stops rebounding, retire that round rather than continuing to strike a dead cushion.
Shooting other auto calibers? The line also covers 45 ACP and 40 S&W in matching packs. Construction details are published by A-Zoom.
For anyone building a serious dry fire habit with a carry or competition 9mm, A-Zoom 9mm Luger Snap Caps are the obvious buy. MAG5 Firearms stocks them as manufacturer item PA15116 in the five pack.
