Description
The A-Zoom 380 ACP Metal Snap Caps are precision-machined dummy rounds for pistols chambered in .380 ACP, also called .380 Auto. Each pack includes five rounds made from solid aluminum with a hard anodized finish and a spring-loaded false primer that cushions the firing pin during dry fire practice.
Why Shooters Choose the A-Zoom 380 ACP Metal Snap Caps
A-Zoom, a Lyman brand, is one of the best-known names in snap caps. Its aluminum snap caps are machined to match the dimensions of a live cartridge, so they feed, chamber and extract through most pistols just like real ammunition. That makes them ideal for practicing reloads, clearing malfunctions and checking function without live ammunition in the room.
The spring-loaded false primer is the key feature for dry fire practice. Each time the trigger is pressed on one of these 380 Auto dummy rounds, the primer insert absorbs the strike, protecting the firing pin, striker and breech face from repeated impact.
The anodized finish resists wear and makes the rounds easy to tell apart from live cartridges, while the solid aluminum body stands up to thousands of cycles far better than plastic trainers.
Training Drills With the A-Zoom 380 ACP Metal Snap Caps
Mix a couple of pistol training rounds into a magazine at random with live ammunition at the range to practice tap-rack-bang malfunction clearance. The surprise click forces a realistic response and reveals any flinch in your trigger press.
At home, clear the room of all live ammunition first. Then use the snap caps for slow, deliberate trigger work, holster draws, and reload practice. Keeping the dummy rounds in their own labeled container helps prevent mixing them with live rounds.
Over time, extractors will mark and wear the rims of any aluminum dummy round. Replace any round whose rim is damaged or whose primer insert no longer springs back, to keep training reliable.
A simple routine helps the practice stick. Set a timer for ten minutes, confirm the chamber and magazine hold only inert rounds, and focus on one skill per session, such as a smooth press without disturbing the front sight, or a clean reload from concealment. Short, frequent sessions tend to build better habits than occasional long ones, and a written log of drills makes progress easy to track over a season.

Who Benefits From the A-Zoom 380 ACP Metal Snap Caps
Owners of compact .380 carry pistols, where consistent trigger control is especially demanding, get a lot from regular dry fire practice with these trainers. They are also useful for gunsmiths and instructors demonstrating loading and unloading procedures.
Snap caps do not replace live fire, and they will not tell you how a pistol handles recoil. Used alongside regular range sessions, though, they are one of the most cost-effective training tools available.
Pair them with practice ammunition from the MAG5 Firearms ammunition selection, and see A-Zoom by Lyman for the full product line.
Store the rounds with your cleaning gear or in a labeled pouch rather than loose in a range bag, so they cannot be mistaken for live ammunition in a hurry.
Who it is for: .380 ACP pistol owners, instructors and new shooters who want safe, durable dummy rounds for dry fire and handling drills. Always keep the A-Zoom 380 ACP Metal Snap Caps separated from live ammunition.
