Description

A-Zoom 350 Legend Snap Caps are machined aluminum dummy rounds cut to 350 Legend dimensions, two to a pack. Straight-walled cartridges feed differently than bottlenecks do, and having a pair of inert rounds to cycle is the quickest way to find out whether a rifle and magazine combination actually works.

How A-Zoom 350 Legend Snap Caps Are Built
Each round is CNC machined from solid aluminum billet to full cartridge dimensions and hard anodized red. One piece, no separate case head, no plastic body. On a straight-walled case there is no shoulder to hold a two-piece dummy together, which is exactly why a machined solid is the right approach here.
The primer end carries a proprietary polymer cushion instead of a live primer, rated by A-Zoom beyond three thousand strikes. It decelerates the firing pin roughly the way a real primer would rather than letting it stop hard against the bolt face.
The red anodizing keeps A-Zoom 350 Legend Snap Caps clearly inert. That is worth having on a cartridge that gets used mostly during deer season, when live ammunition tends to be scattered across a truck seat and a range bag at the same time.
Why Straight Wall Cartridges Need Dummy Rounds
350 Legend exists because several Midwestern states restrict deer hunting to straight-walled cartridges, and it was designed to run in AR-15 pattern rifles with modified magazines as well as in bolt guns. Magazine fit is where those builds go wrong, and cycling A-Zoom 350 Legend Snap Caps through the magazine by hand tells you immediately whether the rounds are presenting correctly.
Extraction is worth checking as well. The Legend uses a rebated rim so it can share a bolt face with 223, which gives the extractor less to grab than a conventional case. Confirming that the bolt holds and ejects a dummy is a sensible check after any bolt or extractor spring change.
Bolt gun owners get the same benefit. Several 350 Legend rifles use single stack detachable magazines with fairly tight tolerances, and a machined dummy shows whether a round rides up and releases cleanly rather than binding against the feed lips.

Field Notes
Season preparation is the honest use case. Most 350 Legend rifles get shot a handful of times a year, so confirming that the gun loads, chambers and ejects cleanly before opening day matters more than it would on a rifle you shoot every weekend.
They also make a good teaching tool. The Legend is a common first deer rifle because recoil is mild, and running A-Zoom 350 Legend Snap Caps through the action is how a new shooter learns to load and unload safely before any live ammunition appears.
The polymer cushion is a wear item. When the face is visibly cratered and stops rebounding, retire that round rather than continuing to strike a dead cushion.
Shooting other straight-walled or AR chamberings? The line also covers 450 Bushmaster and 223 Remington. Construction details are published by A-Zoom.
For deer hunters in straight-wall states and anyone setting up a 350 Legend upper, A-Zoom 350 Legend Snap Caps are the practical buy. MAG5 Firearms stocks them as manufacturer item PA12273 in the two pack.
