Description
Federal Power-Shok 12ga 3in 4 Buckshot shotshells pack 41 pellets of number 4 buckshot into a 3 inch 12 gauge shell. Federal lists a muzzle velocity of about 1210 feet per second. Each box holds 5 rounds.
Proven Buckshot Performance
Federal Power-Shok buckshot is built for hunters and home defenders who want dependable patterns and solid terminal performance without paying for a premium specialty load. It is a go-to choice for hogs, deer where buckshot is legal, predators and home defense.
The Triple Plus wad system helps keep the shot column aligned as it travels down the barrel. Better alignment means fewer flyers and more pellets where you are aiming.
A granulated plastic buffer surrounds the pellets inside the shell. The buffer cushions the lead shot during firing so the pellets stay round, and round pellets fly truer for tighter downrange patterns.

Buckshot Tips
Use Federal Power-Shok 12ga 3in 4 Buckshot only in shotguns chambered for 3 inch or longer 12 gauge shells.
Pattern your shotgun with this load at the distances you expect to shoot. Buckshot patterns vary a lot from gun to gun and choke to choke.
Keep shots close. Buckshot is at its best at short range, where the pattern stays tight.
Check your state regulations before using buckshot for hunting.
Federal Power-Shok 12ga 3in 4 Buckshot ammo is a high-capacity choice for hog hunters, deer hunters in buckshot areas and anyone keeping a shotgun for home defense.
Buckshot size is a trade-off between pellet count and pellet energy. Larger buckshot carries more energy per pellet, while smaller buckshot puts more pellets in the pattern. Number 4 buckshot sits toward the high-pellet end of the scale, and the longer 3 inch magnum hull makes room for 41 pellets. That dense charge makes Federal Power-Shok 12ga 3in 4 Buckshot loads a strong choice for hogs, coyotes and deer at close range where buckshot is legal.
Recoil from a full-power buckshot load is noticeable, especially in lighter shotguns. A good recoil pad and a firm mount help, and practicing with Federal Power-Shok 12ga 3in 4 Buckshot rounds lets you learn how quickly you can get back on target.
For home defense, think about your surroundings and what lies beyond your target. Buckshot can penetrate interior walls, so plan your shooting lanes carefully.
Store shells in a cool, dry place in their original box. Buying several boxes of Federal Power-Shok 12ga 3in 4 Buckshot from the same lot keeps your patterns consistent from one range session to the next.
Shotgun choke makes a big difference with buckshot. Many shotguns pattern buckshot well through an improved cylinder or modified choke, but some guns surprise you, so test a few options before settling on one. Shoot at a large paper target at 10, 15 and 25 yards and count the hits inside a vital-sized circle.
Hunters going after hogs or deer in thick cover appreciate how quickly a pump or semi-auto loaded with Federal Power-Shok 12ga 3in 4 Buckshot shells can deliver follow-up shots. Practice working the action from your shoulder so the gun stays on target between shots.
Keep a few Federal Power-Shok 12ga 3in 4 Buckshot rounds in a shell carrier or sidesaddle on your shotgun so a reload is always within reach, whether you are in a deer stand or at home.
