Browning A5 Lightning 12ga 26 Overview
The A5 revives the most famous name in Browning shotguns, now built on the Kinematic Drive recoil operated system. It is light, simple and clean running, because there is no gas system to foul, and it keeps the classic humpback receiver profile. This version is the A5 Lightning.
Barrel and Chokes
The 26 inch barrel has a high gloss finish, a 1/4 inch rib and a fiber optic front sight. It uses the Invector-DS Flush system and ships with full, modified, improved cylinder tubes, so you can open up for close birds or tighten up for longer shots.
Action
The Kinematic Drive system is recoil operated, so it stays clean and runs reliably in cold and wet weather. Speed Load Plus sends the first shell loaded into an empty magazine straight to the chamber.
Stock and Fit
The Grade I turkish walnut stock with a gloss finish. Browning lists a 14 1/4 inch length of pull, 1 3/4 inch drop at comb and 2 inch drop at heel, with a Inflex 2, Large recoil pad.
Key Features
Browning highlights these features: 100,000 round or five year guarantee; humpback Acquisition Advantage; kinematic Drive; ergo Balanced; inflex II Recoil Pad; speed Load Plus; turnKey Magazine Plug; ergonomic Bolt Latch.
The 12 gauge
The 12 gauge handles everything from light target loads to heavy waterfowl and turkey loads.
Upland Birds and Waterfowl
This shotgun is at home on upland birds such as pheasant and quail, and its 3 inch chamber handles waterfowl loads too. Check federal and state rules on shot type and capacity for waterfowl.
Buying Tips
Before you buy, think about the birds and loads you shoot most. Barrel length changes swing and handling, with shorter barrels quicker in the woods and longer barrels smoother on passing birds and clays. Pattern your gun with each choke and load at 30 to 40 yards so you know exactly where it shoots before the season.
Care and Value
Wipe the gun down after wet hunts and clean the barrels and chokes regularly. A well kept Browning holds its value well on the used market.
State Laws
Shotguns are legal in every state, though hunting rules vary. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
