Browning Citori White Lightning 20ga 26 Overview
The Citori has been the Browning flagship over and under since 1973. It is built by Miroku in Japan and is known for a strong action that stays tight for decades, which is why so many are handed down. The White Lightning pairs a silver nitride receiver with the classic Lightning style rounded pistol grip and slim forearm.
Barrels and Chokes
The 26 inch barrels have a polished blued finish, a 1/4 inch rib and a ivory bead front sight. The Invector-Plus Extended choke system comes with full, modified, improved cylinder tubes, so you can go from open chokes for close birds to tighter ones for longer shots. Chrome plated chambers resist corrosion and make cleaning easier.
Action and Trigger
The Citori locks up with a full width hinge pin and a tapered locking bolt that engages the full width of the barrel monoblock, a design that stays tight after many thousands of rounds. Hammer ejectors kick out fired hulls and lift unfired shells for easy removal. The inertia trigger uses recoil from the first shot to set the second barrel, so use loads with normal recoil.
Stock and Fit
The Grade III/IV black walnut stock has a gloss oil finish and cut 18 lpi checkering. Browning lists a 14 1/4 inch length of pull and an Inflex 2, Large recoil pad. If the fit is not quite right, a good gunsmith can adjust length of pull with spacers or a new pad.
Receiver
Silver Nitride finish covers the receiver, which carries the Browning name and Buck Mark details. The steel receiver adds weight between your hands, which helps the gun swing smoothly and soaks up recoil.
The 20 gauge
The 20 gauge is lighter to carry and kicks less, yet with modern loads it handles quail, pheasant and doves at normal ranges.
Field First, Clays Too
This Citori is at home on upland birds such as pheasant, quail and grouse, and it is just as good for a round of sporting clays or skeet.
Key Features
Browning highlights these features: transverse-mounted, full-width tapered locking bolt and monoblock recess for maximum strength and longevity, stronger and longer lasting full-width hinge pin, inflex II Recoil Pad, inertia Trigger, hammer Ejectors, chrome Chambers for increased durability, corrosion resistance, and easier cleaning, steel Shot Performance, total Barrel Dynamics.
Care and Value
Wipe the metal down after a hunt, keep the wood away from heat, and store the gun with the action closed and snap caps fitted if you like. A well kept Citori holds its value very well on the used market.
State Laws
Over and under shotguns are legal in every state, though hunting rules on shot type and gauge vary. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
