Browning Citori 725 Pro Sporting 30 in Overview
The Citori has been the Browning flagship over and under since 1973. It is built by Miroku in Japan and is known for a strong action that stays tight for decades, which is why so many are handed down. The 725 Pro Sporting is the competition version of the 725, with long barrels, an adjustable comb and target style handling, plus the mechanical FireLite trigger and Vector Pro lengthened forcing cones.
Barrels and Chokes
The 30 inch barrels have a polished blued finish, a 5/16 – 7/16 inch rib and a hiviz pro-comp front sight. The Invector-DS Extended choke system comes with full, improved modified, modified, improved cylinder, skeet tubes, so you can go from open chokes for close birds to tighter ones for longer shots. Chrome plated chambers resist corrosion and make cleaning easier.
Action and Trigger
The Citori locks up with a full width hinge pin and a tapered locking bolt that engages the full width of the barrel monoblock, a design that stays tight after many thousands of rounds. Hammer ejectors kick out fired hulls and lift unfired shells for easy removal. The FireLite mechanical trigger sets the second barrel mechanically, so it does not depend on recoil from the first shot.
Stock and Fit
The Grade III/IV black walnut stock has a gloss oil finish and cut 20 lpi checkering. Browning lists a 14 3/4 inch length of pull and an Inflex 2, Large recoil pad. The adjustable comb lets you set the height of your eye over the rib, which is the key to a gun that shoots where you look.
Receiver
Silver Nitride finish covers the receiver, which carries the Browning name and Buck Mark details. The steel receiver adds weight between your hands, which helps the gun swing smoothly and soaks up recoil.
The 20 gauge
The 20 gauge is lighter to carry and kicks less, yet with modern loads it handles quail, pheasant and doves at normal ranges.
Clays First, Field Too
This Citori is built first for sporting clays, skeet and trap, but it also works for upland birds if you do not mind a little extra length and weight.
Key Features
Browning highlights these features: low profile receiver, makes the Citori 725 feel incredibly balanced in your hands, tapered Locking Bolt accommodates for wear to keep receiver lock up tight, transverse mounted, full-width Hinge Pin maximizes strength and longevity, chrome Chambers increase durability and corrosion resistance, inflex Recoil Pad, fire Lite Mechanical Trigger, steel Shot Performance.
Care and Value
Wipe the metal down after a hunt, keep the wood away from heat, and store the gun with the action closed and snap caps fitted if you like. A well kept Citori holds its value very well on the used market.
