Henry Homesteader Carbine 9mm Overview
The Homesteader is Henry’s semi-automatic 9mm carbine, designed to work with popular pistol magazines and built for home defense, ranch use, and fun at the range. Henry builds its firearms in the USA and backs them with a strong warranty and well-regarded customer service.
Design and Features
This version uses a Round Blued Steel barrel measuring 16.37 inches with a 1:10 rate of twist. The receiver is finished in Hard Anodized Black. The stock is American Walnut with a Pistol Grip design. Extras include Swivel Studs. 5-round and 10-round Henry magazines included. Glock® magazine well adapter included (Glock® magazines not. For optics, the receiver offers Drilled and Tapped.
Handling in the Field
Henry lever guns are light, slim, and balanced, so they carry easily in the woods and come up to the shoulder quickly. With a 10-round capacity you have plenty on hand for a day of hunting or plinking. Most Henry rifles load through a tube in the magazine, which is simple and safe: you never have to cycle live rounds through the action to unload.
Action and Trigger
The lever cycles smoothly with a short throw, and the trigger is crisp for a lever gun. The safety is a top-mounted thumb switch (half-cock) design; Henry’s transfer bar system means the rifle will not fire unless the trigger is pulled.
Sights and Optics
It comes with Screw-On Post front and Adjustable Aperture rear sights. The receiver is set up for optics (Drilled and Tapped), so you can add a scope or red dot if you prefer.
The 9mm Cartridge
The 9mm Luger is the most popular handgun cartridge in the world. It offers manageable recoil, good capacity, and a huge selection of affordable practice and defensive ammunition.
Setup and Accessories
Start with a quality optic and solid rings or a mount, then add a sling for carrying and a bipod or shooting bag for steady rests. Test a few loads for accuracy and settle on the one your rifle likes best. A hard case protects your investment on the way to the range or the field.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the rifle and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the bolt face and chamber. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
