Description
The Wilson Combat ACP-COM-45 Commander 45 is the 45 ACP version of Wilson’s ACP Commander, a hand-fit 1911 with a 4.25 inch barrel, black Armor-Tuff finish and G10 grips. It holds 8+1 rounds and ships with two magazines.

Wilson Combat ACP-COM-45 Commander 45 Overview
Wilson created the ACP line to offer its custom-shop fit and reliability at a lower price, with fewer hand-finishing steps than its high-end models. The Commander length suits both carry and range use. Distributor data lists a 4.25 inch barrel, an overall length of 7.85 inches and a weight of 37.8 ounces. Our store title said 4 inches; the correct figure is 4.25 inches.
Wilson Details
The slide and frontstrap carry Wilson’s Eagle Claw grip treatment, a pattern that grips well without shredding your hands or clothing. The Bullet Proof thumb safety and beavertail are Wilson parts, the trigger has a medium pad, and the magazine well is contoured for faster reloads. The black G10 grips match the pattern.

Sights
The rear is Wilson’s Battlesight, a serrated notch with a ledge you can use to rack the slide one-handed, and the front is fiber optic. Fiber optic is bright and fast in daylight but does not glow in the dark the way tritium night sights do, so think about your carry and home-defense light conditions.
45 ACP in a Commander
45 ACP is the cartridge the 1911 was designed around. In a steel Commander it pushes rather than snaps, and many shooters find it easy to control. Capacity is low compared with modern 9mm pistols, and 45 ACP costs more to shoot. Defensive loads should be tested for feeding before you carry them.
1911 Ownership
A 1911 rewards maintenance. Keep it well lubricated, replace the recoil spring on schedule, and use good magazines: Wilson 47 series magazines are the usual choice. The manual safety must be practiced until sweeping it off is automatic. Single action triggers are short and light, so holster choice and trigger discipline matter.
Armor-Tuff Finish
Armor-Tuff is Wilson’s baked-on finish over carbon steel. It resists wear, sweat and solvents better than bluing, though holster wear will eventually show on the edges. Carbon steel under the finish can still rust where the coating wears, so wipe it down after carrying in heat and humidity.
State Laws and Ownership
Pennsylvania has no handgun roster and an 8 round single stack magazine is legal in every state. California and Massachusetts require roster-listed handguns, and some cities add permit rules. Check your own state and local laws and confirm the transfer with your receiving FFL before ordering.
