Description
The Colt Delta Elite Rail 10mm 5 is a pistol chambered in 10mm with a 5-inch barrel.
Colt Delta Elite Rail 10mm 5 Overview
Colt’s Manufacturing Company has built iconic American firearms since 1836, from the Single Action Army and the 1911 to the Python and the M4 carbine. The Delta Elite is Colt’s 10mm 1911, a powerful full-size pistol for the woods and the range. When you choose a handgun, the right size depends on how you plan to use it. A smaller frame is easier to conceal under a light shirt, while a longer grip and slide give you more control, a longer sight radius and faster follow-up shots at the range.
Spend time with the grip in your hand, try a few draws from the holster you plan to use, and practice reloads with the magazines it ships with. Regular practice with quality ammunition will build the confidence and skill that matter far more than any single feature.
Design and Features
Colt’s 1911s are built to the original design with modern refinements, including the Series 70 or Series 80 firing system, upgraded sights and premium grips. Rail versions add an accessory rail. For carry, pair it with a quality holster that covers the trigger guard completely and a sturdy belt that keeps the gun stable through the day. For home defense, a weapon light and a secure, quick-access safe are worth considering. Whatever the role, spend time learning to manipulate the controls until loading, unloading and clearing malfunctions become second nature.
Handling and Carry
It handles the power of the 10mm with ease.
Trigger and Controls
The single action trigger breaks crisply with a short reset.
Sights and Optics
The factory sights give a clear, quick sight picture, and an optic-ready slide (where fitted) lets you add a red dot whenever you are ready.
The 10mm Cartridge
The 10mm Auto is a powerful cartridge with flat trajectories and deep penetration, popular for backcountry protection. Expect noticeably more recoil and higher ammunition cost than 9mm.
Setup and Accessories
A good holster is the most important accessory for any carry pistol. Choose one that covers the trigger guard completely and holds the gun securely, then add a sturdy gun belt, spare magazines, and a weapon light if the frame has a rail. Practice drawing and reloading with an unloaded gun until it feels natural.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner’s manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the pistol and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner’s manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the breech face and slide rails. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
