What the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro FDE 2.5 MOA actually is
This is a 1x fixed magnification, second focal plane red dot with a 2.5 MOA dot. Leupold describes that dot as ideal for precise shot placement, and that is a fair way to put it: 2.5 MOA is small enough to shoot to at distance and still quick enough to find in a hurry.
If you want the coarser aiming point, Leupold makes a 6 MOA version in the same colour under a different item number. The two look identical on a shelf. Check the dot size before you order, because nothing on the outside of the sight tells you which one you are holding.
The DeltaPoint Pro red dot sight adjusts in 1 MOA coin clicks on both axes, with 60 MOA of total travel in elevation and 60 MOA in windage. That is 17 MIL, or 175 cm at 100 metres. There is no locking dial; brightness is a push button.

The Leupold DeltaPoint Pro FDE 2.5 MOA runs on a single CR2032 in a top-loading compartment, so you do not have to re-zero after a battery change. That is a real advantage over sights that make you pull the optic off the gun to feed it.
Eight brightness settings run 1600 hours on low, 1000 on medium and 300 on high. Leupold rates the illumination as daylight bright but not night vision compatible, which is worth knowing if you run a PVS device. Motion Sensor Technology shuts the dot down after five minutes of stillness and brings it back the moment the gun moves.
Mounting the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro FDE 2.5 MOA
No mount ships in the box. Leupold sells a DeltaPoint Pro AR mount, a cross slot mount and ring-top kits in 1 inch, 30 mm and 34 mm, all separately. If you are putting this on a slide cut for the DeltaPoint Pro footprint you will not need one, but budget for a mount if it is going on a rifle.
The Leupold DeltaPoint Pro FDE 2.5 MOA weighs 2 ounces and measures 1.8 inches long. Eye relief is unlimited, as you would expect from a reflex sight. The housing is aircraft-grade aluminum housing in Leupold’s own words, and the optic is waterproof, fogproof and shockproof.
Honest notes on the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro FDE 2.5 MOA
Three things we will not paper over. First, Leupold does not publish a window size anywhere on this product’s page. You will see listings quote precise window dimensions in inches. We are not going to repeat a figure the manufacturer does not print.
Second, the page contradicts itself on the turrets. Elevation is listed at 40 MOA per revolution and windage at 15 MOA per revolution, even though both axes have the same 60 MOA total range and the same 1 MOA clicks. One of those numbers is wrong. We are reporting both exactly as published rather than quietly picking the one that looks tidier.
Third, the only reticle graphic on Leupold’s page for the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro FDE 2.5 MOA is filed under a name that says 1 MOA dot, on a product the specification table calls 2.5 MOA. We have left that image out of the gallery rather than show you something that may not be this sight’s dot.
