Description
The Savage 1911 45 ACP Black is a full-size Government-style 1911 pistol chambered in 45 ACP, with a forged stainless steel frame and slide, a 5-inch billet-machined stainless barrel, a black nitride finish, and G10 grips. It is a modern, carefully built take on the most iconic American handgun design.
Savage 1911 45 ACP Black Overview
John Moses Browning’s single-action 1911 has been standing strong for more than a century, and Savage gives it a thorough modern treatment. In a fun bit of history, the 1911 beat the Savage Model 1907 in the U.S. military pistol trials, and now Savage builds its own version with premium materials and tight machining. The result is a classic Government-size pistol that points naturally, carries a crisp single-action trigger, and shoots accurately.
Forged Stainless Frame and Slide
Both the frame and slide are forged stainless steel, a durable foundation that resists corrosion and wear. A black nitride finish adds a hard, slick, corrosion-resistant surface with a clean, all-black look. The ejection port is lowered, flared, and cut for live-round ejection, so unloading is smooth and brass clears the gun reliably.
Billet-Machined Barrel
The 5-inch stainless steel barrel is machined from billet and finished with an 11-degree target crown that protects the rifling and promotes consistent accuracy. A dual recoil spring system with a GI-style guide rod and barrel bushing tames recoil and keeps the classic 1911 feel.
Quality Internal Parts
Savage uses a fully machined tool steel sear and disconnector, a stainless steel hammer, and a nitride-coated titanium firing pin. Those parts deliver a clean, consistent single-action trigger pull and long-term durability, two things 1911 shooters care about most.
Sights, Safety, and Grips
A Novak Lo-Mount black rear sight pairs with a white dot front sight for a fast, uncluttered sight picture. An ambidextrous thumb safety serves both right- and left-handed shooters, and VZ G10 grips add aggressive, durable texture that stays put in sweaty or wet hands.
Capacity and Carry
The pistol ships with two 8-round magazines. As a full-size steel 1911 weighing about 2.5 pounds, it soaks up recoil for comfortable range days and makes a capable home defense or open-carry sidearm.
Why Choose a 1911
Shooters keep coming back to the 1911 for good reason. Its slim single-stack grip fits a wide range of hands, the straight-back single-action trigger is easy to master, and the low bore axis helps the pistol track flat during recoil. Add Savage’s modern machining and materials, and you get a pistol that honors the original design while meeting today’s standards for reliability and fit.
