Description

Springfield Armory SAINT Victor V2 B5 308 AR-10 rifle with 16 inch barrel in black

The Springfield SAINT Victor 308 20 Round is the full capacity version of Springfield lightweight AR-10, shipping with a twenty round Magpul PMAG Gen M3 and a collapsing B5 stock. At 7 pounds 11 ounces bare it weighs about what a well built 5.56 carbine does, and it gets there through barrel contour and a slim handguard rather than by cutting corners on the parts that matter.

What Makes The Springfield SAINT Victor 308 20 Round Light

The barrel is 16 inches of CMV steel in a continuous taper profile, nitride finished inside and out, cut 1:10 and threaded 5/8×24 behind a four prong flash hider. Continuous taper is the key detail: instead of stepping the contour down at fixed points, the barrel thins gradually from chamber to muzzle, keeping stiffness where chamber pressure actually is while shedding weight everywhere else on the Springfield SAINT Victor 308 20 Round.

Gas is direct impingement on an intermediate length system with a taper pinned gas block. Intermediate length is the correct dwell time for a 16 inch 308, and taper pinning means the block will not creep under the handguard the way a set screw block eventually can.

The handguard is Springfield patented Triple-Lock aluminium free float handguard with a full length top rail, M-Lok slots and integrated QD sockets. A free float handguard keeps a bipod, a light or a sling off the barrel entirely, which is what lets the rifle hold zero when you load it up.

Controls And Furniture On The Springfield SAINT Victor 308 20 Round

A Radian Raptor-LT ambidextrous charging handle comes fitted as standard, alongside a 45 degree ambi safety that uses a short throw lever on the right side so it stays clear of your trigger finger. With those and the QD receiver end plate, running the Springfield SAINT Victor 308 20 Round from either shoulder takes no parts and no gunsmith.

The trigger is a nickel boron trigger on a flat GI shoe. It is not a two stage match unit and Springfield does not claim it is, but the nickel boron coating makes the engagement surfaces meaningfully smoother than bare mil-spec, and the flat shoe gives a repeatable finger position. A drop in cassette can go in later if you want one.

Furniture is B5 Systems throughout: an Enhanced SOPMOD collapsing stock giving 34.5 to 37.75 inches overall, and a BCMGUNFIGHTER Mod 3 grip. The buffer is a carbine H2 heavy tungsten unit, which takes some of the sharpness out of the 308 impulse and helps the Springfield SAINT Victor 308 20 Round settle faster between shots.

Why Buyers Choose The Springfield SAINT Victor 308 20 Round

The argument for a SAINT Victor AR-10 rifle over a 5.56 carbine is straightforward. You get considerably more bullet weight and energy on target from a rifle that is only marginally heavier. Where 5.56 is marginal or not legal for the game you are after, the Springfield SAINT Victor 308 20 Round does the work without asking you to switch to a bolt gun.

Springfield also fitted the components most buyers end up replacing anyway. The ambi charging handle, the ambi safety, the free float rail, the H2 buffer and the B5 furniture are all common upgrades on cheaper rifles, and buying them separately costs more than the difference in sticker price.

Twenty rounds is also the sensible magazine size for this platform. Ten leaves you short on a range day and twenty five sits too low to shoot prone comfortably, so the PMAG Gen M3 that ships with the Springfield SAINT Victor 308 20 Round is the size most owners settle on anyway.

The honest drawbacks: a 16 inch 308 is loud, and muzzle blast off a flash hider at that length gets noticed on an indoor range. The AR-10 pattern never standardised the way the AR-15 did, so magazines, handguards and buffer components are pattern specific rather than universal. And 308 ammunition runs roughly twice the price of 5.56, which adds up fast if you practise properly. The trigger is the one part most owners eventually change if they intend to shoot groups at distance.

Who Should Buy The Springfield SAINT Victor 308 20 Round

The Springfield SAINT Victor 308 20 Round suits the hunter who wants a semi automatic in a real hunting cartridge, or anyone building a single rifle to cover deer sized game and defensive use. If you live in a state that limits magazine capacity, the ten round version of this same rifle is the one to buy. If most of your shooting is paper at 100 yards, a 5.56 rifle will cost far less to feed. If you want a precision rifle for distance, a 20 inch barrel and a better trigger will take you further.
