Description

Eley Tenex Pistol 22LR 40gr ammunition is ELEY’s premium match round tuned specifically for target pistols. Each box holds 50 rounds.

Why a Pistol Specific Match Round Matters

Rifle match ammunition is tuned for long barrels. In a target pistol, the shorter barrel, different chamber dimensions and semi-auto action place different demands on a cartridge. ELEY Tenex Pistol is developed for those conditions, with a velocity window of about 906 to 942 feet per second that keeps the bullet stable from a pistol barrel and keeps recoil gentle for quick, accurate follow up shots.

The round nose bullet profile helps reliable feeding in semi-auto target pistols from makers such as Walther, Pardini, Morini and Hammerli, while the paraffin wax lubricant keeps actions cycling cleanly through long match courses. Smooth feeding is critical in timed events, where a single stoppage can cost a series.

ELEY lists a maximum radial standard deviation of about 4.40 mm for this load, which is exceptional consistency for a pistol round and gives shooters confidence that their scores reflect their hold and trigger control.

Field Notes and Match Tips

Use Eley Tenex Pistol 22LR 40gr ammo for ISSF 25 meter standard and sport pistol, 50 meter free pistol, NRA bullseye and other precision pistol disciplines. Its lower velocity also makes it a good fit for revolver and single shot target pistols where accuracy matters more than power.

Pistols can prefer certain production lots just as rifles do. Shoot groups from a rest with several lots if you can, then buy a supply of the best one so your pistol and ammunition stay matched for the season.

Keep your magazines clean and check feed lips for wear. A clean, well tuned magazine is just as important as good ammunition for reliable feeding. Before a match, fire a few sighters after cleaning to settle the barrel and confirm your zero.

Handle cartridges carefully and store your match lot at a steady temperature, since heat and cold both change velocity and can affect vertical dispersion at 50 meters.

If you shoot precision pistol and want ammunition that matches your skill, Eley Tenex Pistol 22LR 40gr is a superb choice for training and competition. Add a set of training rounds for dry fire practice and a quality ammo box to protect your match lot.

Newer pistol shooters benefit from premium ammunition too. When every round behaves the same, it is easier to diagnose problems with grip, sight alignment and trigger press. A shot that lands outside the group can be traced to technique, which speeds up learning and builds confidence on the firing line.

Between matches, store unopened boxes in a cool, dry place away from solvents and oils. Rimfire priming is sensitive to contamination, and careful storage keeps ignition consistent from the first round in the box to the last.
