Description
The Grand Power Stribog SP45A3 FDE is a .45 ACP pistol-caliber pistol with a roller-delayed blowback action, an 8-inch threaded barrel and a Flat Dark Earth Cerakote finish. It feeds from 20-round UMP-style magazines.
Grand Power Stribog SP45A3 FDE Overview
The Stribog line made Grand Power famous in the US pistol-caliber market, and the SP45A3 brings the A3 generation’s roller-delayed blowback system to .45 ACP. Roller delay slows the bolt’s rearward travel, which noticeably softens recoil compared with simple blowback designs and keeps the gun from feeling harsh with full-power loads. It has an alloy upper, a polymer lower, a non-reciprocating charging handle and flip-up backup sights, and the 8-inch barrel is threaded .578×28. The rear of the receiver ends in a 1913 Picatinny backplate, and no brace is included.
Roller-Delayed .45 ACP
The heavy, slow .45 ACP bullet is a natural fit for a short pistol-caliber gun. It is subsonic with most loads, which makes the SP45A3 an excellent suppressor host, and the roller-delayed action keeps the bolt from slamming. Shooters coming from the 9mm Stribog will notice more push but less snap. The tradeoff is ammunition cost: .45 ACP costs noticeably more per round than 9mm, so plan your range budget accordingly.
UMP-Style Magazines
The SP45A3 uses 20-round magazines patterned after the HK UMP45, which are widely available from several makers. That avoids the proprietary magazine problem some pistol-caliber carbines have. Distributor data conflicts on how many magazines ship with this model: one listing says three, another says one, so confirm before you order. As always, 20-round magazines are not legal in every state, so check local capacity rules.
Rails, Sights and Controls
The top Picatinny rail runs the length of the receiver for a red dot, and the bottom rail plus M-LOK slots at 3 and 9 o’clock accept lights, lasers and hand stops. Flip-up backup sights are installed. The non-reciprocating charging handle sits on the side where it stays out of your face, and a QD sling socket at the rear makes carrying easy. The rear 1913 backplate accepts folding braces where legal, but no brace is included in the box.
Flat Dark Earth Finish
The FDE Cerakote on the alloy upper and the polymer lower gives the Stribog an earth-tone look that pairs well with tan or black accessories. Polymer and aluminum often take color slightly differently, so the upper and lower may not match perfectly in person, which is normal for two-material builds. Cerakote resists wear well, though sling contact points and the charging handle area will show use over time.
Honest Caveats
At about 5.1 pounds unloaded the SP45A3 is heavy for a pistol, and without a brace it is awkward to shoot well; most owners add a brace or treat it as a future SBR project. Adding a shoulder stock to an 8-inch barrel creates a short-barreled rifle under the NFA, which requires an approved ATF Form 1 or Form 4 first. Suppressors also require an approved Form 4 and state legality. Brace rules have changed several times, so check current ATF guidance. Grand Power parts can be slower to source than AR parts.
State Laws and Ownership
Pistols with threaded barrels and 20-round magazines are restricted in several states, including California, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Illinois and Washington, and some states also regulate pistol weight, barrel shrouds or the ability to accept a magazine outside the grip. Colorado, Vermont and Delaware limit magazine capacity. In Pennsylvania the pistol transfers through a licensed dealer with a background check like any handgun. Confirm your state and local rules before you order.
