Description

The BCM RECCE-16 MCMR Bronze is the burnt bronze Cerakote version of Bravo Company’s 16 inch carbine. Everything mechanical is identical to the black rifle: a government profile barrel with a mid length gas system, a chrome lined USGI 5.56 bore and chamber, and the MCMR aluminum M-LOK handguard. The finish is the entire difference and it is worth what you think it is worth. Bronze reads as warm and deliberate rather than tactical, it hides handling marks and dust better than black, and you are unlikely to see another one on your firing line.

Function, accuracy and durability are unchanged.

What the BCM RECCE-16 MCMR Bronze Is Built From

The barrel is 16 inches of MIL-SPEC 11595E steel in the government profile, manganese phosphate finished beneath the Cerakote, with a chrome lined USGI 5.56 bore and chamber and a 1:7 twist. Chrome lining trades a little intrinsic accuracy for corrosion resistance, barrel life and reliable extraction when the rifle is hot.

Sixteen inches with a mid length gas system is the most forgiving combination available on an AR-15. Lower pressure at the bolt and longer dwell time mean gentler cycling, less wear and noticeably softer recoil than a carbine length gas gun of the same barrel length.

The bolt carrier group is Carpenter No. 158 steel with a chrome lined full auto profile carrier, a tool steel extractor and BCM’s own extractor spring, running on a mil-spec 7075-T6 receiver extension with a USGI H buffer.

Handguard, Optics and Practical Notes

The MCMR handguard is aluminum rather than polymer, free floating and slim enough to grip comfortably, with M-LOK slots and a full length top rail. There is no fixed front sight, so the sight line is completely clear for whatever optic you fit.

A red dot is the natural default at this barrel length, and a 1-6 or 1-8 low power variable adds useful reach for little weight. Backup irons fold out of the way and are worth fitting if the rifle has a defensive role.

The compensator is threaded on rather than pinned, so muzzle devices swap freely. The rest is BCM Gunfighter: stock, grip, charging handle, QD end plate, PNT nickel Teflon trigger and enhanced trigger guard.

  • Sixteen inches and mid length gas, the most forgiving AR-15 combination
  • Chrome lined USGI 5.56 bore and chamber built for round count
  • Carpenter No. 158 bolt and a USGI H buffer fitted from the factory
  • No pinned muzzle device, so the compensator changes whenever you like

Who it suits

This suits the buyer who wants a BCM carbine that does not look like every other BCM carbine. Mechanically it is the same rifle as the black one, so choose on looks without worrying that you are giving something up.

Ammunition and Transfer Notes for the BCM RECCE-16 MCMR Bronze

A 1:7 twist stabilizes everything from 55 grain practice ball to 77 grain match, so a single rifle covers cheap volume shooting and serious use with no hardware changes. The chamber is cut to 5.56 NATO, which means both 5.56 and 223 Remington are safe in it; a barrel marked 223 does not work the other way round. Cartridge and chamber standards are published by SAAMI.

One practical note on Cerakote in a light color: it will burnish at the takedown pins, the magazine well and wherever a sling rubs. That happens on black rifles too, it just shows more here. Most owners come to like it, but if you want a rifle that looks new for years, black hides wear better.

Magazine capacity is restricted in several states and some jurisdictions restrict semi automatic rifles of this configuration outright, so confirm your local law before ordering. The same carbine is listed in black and Flat Dark Earth, and more of our inventory is on the MAG5 Firearms shop page. The BCM RECCE-16 MCMR Bronze ships to a licensed dealer of your choosing, where you will complete a 4473 and a NICS check.
