Description
The Andro Corp ACI-10 Divergent 308 is Andro Corp’s forged AR-10, and it is the sensible way into a semi-automatic 308 Win without paying billet-receiver money. Sixteen inches of 4150 CMV barrel, a mid length gas system, graphite black Cerakote on both receivers and a 15 inch M-LOK rail, at 7 pounds 10 ounces bare. Andro Corp Industries builds it in the USA under part number 30816DBFORGED, UPC 736684139735, and MAG5 Firearms has it on the shelf.
What the Andro Corp ACI-10 Divergent 308 is built from
The barrel is 16 inches of 4150 chrome moly vanadium steel with a Melonite QPQ finish inside and out, cut with a 1:10 twist. That twist is the standard choice for 308 Win and handles the whole useful range of factory loads, from 150 grain hunting ammunition up through the 175 grain match bullets most people settle on for paper. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 under an A2 flash hider.
The Andro Corp ACI-10 Divergent 308 runs a mid length gas system. On a 16 inch 308 barrel that is the arrangement that keeps port pressure sane, and it is a large part of why this rifle is noticeably softer shooting than the carbine gassed AR-10s that were common a decade ago.
Both receivers on the Andro Corp ACI-10 Divergent 308 are 7075 forged and finished in graphite black Cerakote rather than plain anodizing, which is a meaningful upgrade on a rifle at this price. An AR-10 profile nitride bolt carrier group runs inside, with an M4 style stock and an A2 grip on the back end.
Handling, handguard and what comes in the box
The 15 inch M-LOK free float handguard runs nearly to the muzzle, so nothing touches the barrel and you have the whole length available for a bipod, a light or a sling mount. On a 308 that free float matters more than it does on a 5.56: you feel a loaded bipod pulling on a non-free-floated barrel far sooner with this cartridge.
At 7 pounds 10 ounces bare the Andro Corp ACI-10 Divergent 308 sits at the light end for a 16 inch AR-10. That is a genuine advantage if you carry it, and it does mean recoil is a little more noticeable than it would be on a heavier build. A muzzle brake on those 5/8×24 threads flattens it out if that bothers you.
One 20 round magazine comes in the box with the Andro Corp ACI-10 Divergent 308, and the rifle takes standard SR-25 and DPMS pattern magazines, so Magpul PMAG LR/SR mags drop straight in. The upper is a flattop with a full length Picatinny rail and no sights, so plan on an optic.
