Description
The Savage Axis II 30-06 Granite is an affordable, accurate bolt-action hunting rifle chambered in 30-06 Springfield, with a 22-inch matte black barrel and a black synthetic stock with gray granite accents. It is a dependable, no-fuss choice for whitetails, black bear, elk, and anything else on a North American hunting list.
Savage Axis II 30-06 Granite Overview
The Axis II has earned a reputation as one of the best values in hunting rifles. Savage builds it to shoot well right out of the box, with a precision barrel, a trigger you can adjust yourself, and a detachable magazine, all at a price that leaves room in the budget for good glass and ammunition. Paired with the 30-06 Springfield, a cartridge with more than a century of proven field performance, it is a rifle you can hand down for years.
Precision Barrel Built for Accuracy
The 22-inch carbon steel barrel is button-rifled for consistent, uniform grooves that help each bullet leave the muzzle the same way, shot after shot. A matte black finish keeps glare down in the field. The 30-06 runs efficiently from this length and offers a huge selection of factory loads, from 150-grain deer loads to heavy 180 and 220-grain bullets for elk and bear.
Drilled and Tapped Receiver
The receiver comes drilled and tapped for scope bases, so mounting a riflescope is simple. Pick a base and rings that suit your optic and you are ready to zero. Because the barrel and receiver come ready to shoot, you can spend your time at the range dialing in loads instead of fixing problems. Most hunters pair the Axis II with a 3-9x or 4-12x scope for a versatile setup from the woods to open fields.
Synthetic Stock with Granite Accents
The black synthetic stock with gray granite accents is tough, lightweight, and weather resistant. It will not swell, warp, or crack from rain or humidity like a wood stock can, and the speckled finish gives the rifle a distinctive look. Sling swivel studs make it easy to add a sling for long walks to the stand.
User-Adjustable Trigger
The Savage AccuTrigger lets you adjust pull weight yourself for a crisp, light break without a trip to the gunsmith. Its center safety blade helps prevent accidental discharge while still allowing a clean, predictable release, which is a big part of why Savage rifles are known for out-of-the-box accuracy.
Detachable Box Magazine
The rifle feeds from a 4-round detachable box magazine, with one more in the chamber for a 4+1 capacity. A detachable magazine makes loading and unloading quick and safe when you climb into a stand or get back to the truck.
