Description
The Barnes VOR-TX LR 22 Creedmoor 65gr LRX BT is factory ammunition for one of the newest cartridges to reach SAAMI standardization, and it is loaded with a bullet that takes the 22 Creedmoor seriously. An all copper LRX leaves the muzzle at roughly 3560 fps carrying about 1830 ft-lbs. That is a great deal of energy from a 22 centerfire, and the bullet is built to use it. Each box holds 20 rounds.

Barnes VOR-TX LR 22 Creedmoor 65gr LRX BT Overview
The LRX is the long range member of the Barnes copper family, built with a deeper hollow cavity beneath the polymer tip so it opens at considerably lower impact velocities, down around 1600 fps rather than the 2000 or so a standard copper hunting bullet needs.
That distinction matters here more than most places, because almost everything else loaded in 22 caliber is either a frangible varmint bullet that disintegrates on the surface or a match bullet that was never designed for terminal performance at all. A monolithic copper bullet that expands and then holds together is a genuinely different tool.
65 Grain LRX Boat Tail Performance
At 65 grains this is heavy for a 22 caliber bullet and deliberately so. Copper is less dense than lead, so a 65 grain monolithic bullet is physically long, and that length is what carries the ballistic coefficient. Barnes does not publish a BC figure for this loading, so build your drop data from your own chronograph rather than a number off a forum.
Barnes machines relief grooves into the bearing surface of the Barnes VOR-TX LR 22 Creedmoor 65gr LRX projectile. In a small bore driving a long bullet at 3560 fps those grooves do real work, lowering pressure and cutting the copper fouling that would otherwise build quickly.
Why Hunters Choose 22 Creedmoor Hunting Ammo
The 22 Creedmoor is a 6.5 Creedmoor case necked down to 22 caliber. It was a wildcat for years before SAAMI standardization, and it does what wildcatters wanted: magnum velocity from a short action with very little recoil and a modern throat cut for long, high BC bullets.
For predator work this 22 Creedmoor hunting ammo is close to ideal. Coyotes at 400 yards are an ordinary proposition, recoil is light enough to spot your own hits through the scope, and unlike a frangible varmint bullet this one will still reach the vitals on a quartering shot.
Two honest caveats. Barrel life is short for a 22 centerfire running this fast, and legality for deer varies by state, so check your regulations before assuming a 22 Creedmoor is a legal deer cartridge where you hunt.

Range Notes For This All Copper Predator Bullet
Twist rate is the thing to check before you buy. A 65 grain copper bullet is long, and most 22 Creedmoor barrels run 1 in 7 or 1 in 8 which handles it easily. A slower twist will not stabilize it, and you will see that as oval holes in paper.
Chronograph your rifle. Barnes publishes no ballistic coefficient for this load, so your own velocity data is the only sound basis for a drop chart. That matters more here than with a load where the BC is documented.
Let the barrel cool between strings. At 3560 fps from a 22 centerfire, throat erosion is the limiting factor on barrel life, and hot strings accelerate it noticeably. Store the ammunition cool and dry.
