The Magnifier Is What The Reticle Was Waiting For

A holdover reticle like the one in the Holosun ARO EVO SPR HM3X Combo is, on a 1x optic is a slightly awkward thing. The marks are correct, but at one power a target at three hundred yards is small enough that lining a fine mark up with it is more hope than aim.

Flip the HM3X into place and the problem disappears. At three power the target is three times larger while the reticle subtensions stay exactly what they were, so a 1 MOA holdover mark that was a rough guide becomes a usable aiming point. At three power a 6 MOA dot obscures as much of the target as an 18 MOA dot would at 1x, which throws away most of what you bought the magnifier for. The Holosun ARO EVO SPR HM3X Combo reticle has four elements: a 1.5 MOA centre dot, 1 MOA holdover marks stacked below it calibrated for M193 ball, a 65 MOA circle wrapped around the lot, and ranging references.

The circle is the close range tool, the thing your eye cannot miss when the target is ten feet away. The dot is the precision tool. The holdovers turn a known distance into a known hold instead of an estimate made under time pressure. Together they let the Holosun ARO EVO SPR HM3X Combo cover contact distance and several hundred yards without you touching a turret.

Enclosed, Solar Backed, IPX8

The emitter on the Holosun ARO EVO SPR HM3X Combo sits sealed inside the housing where rain, snow, mud and lint cannot reach it. Solar failsafe harvests ambient light and will run the sight on its own if the CR2032 dies or is removed, and the cell is rated at 50,000 hours at brightness setting six, loading from a side tray so a battery change never means pulling the optic off the rail.

The sight body is 6061 aluminum, hard anodized, rated IPX8 for immersion and 1000G for vibration, measuring 2.87 by 1.68 by 2.7 inches at 4.3 ounces with a 1.7 ounce mount. Shake Awake sleeps the Holosun ARO EVO SPR HM3X Combo when the rifle is still, automatic brightness reads the scene, manual control overrides it, and lockout freezes the settings. Two Mount Heights And Half MOA Clicks

Both mounts come in the Holosun ARO EVO SPR HM3X Combo box: a 1.63 inch lower one third co witness height and a 1.05 inch low height. The taller sits the reticle above backup irons on a standard AR; the lower shrinks your mechanical offset for a pistol caliber carbine or a shotgun. Most makers charge again for the second one.
