Description
The Sig Sauer 516 G3 Mohawk is a piston-driven 5.56 carbine built for people who shoot a lot and clean as little as possible. MAG5 Firearms stocks it with a 16-inch FNC-treated barrel, a short-stroke gas piston, a free-float M-LOK handguard and ambidextrous controls throughout.
The Sig Sauer 516 G3 Mohawk Short-Stroke Piston Advantage
A conventional AR-15 routes propellant gas back into the upper receiver, which is why the bolt carrier comes out black and hot after a magazine or two. The Sig Sauer 516 G3 Mohawk instead uses a piston and operating rod to push the carrier, leaving carbon and heat forward at the gas block.
That keeps the bolt carrier group cleaner and cooler, which matters most in high-volume shooting and suppressed use. It also means the rifle keeps cycling long past the point where a dry direct-impingement gun starts to drag.
FNC Barrel Treatment and Accuracy
FNC is a ferritic nitrocarburizing process that hardens the steel through the surface rather than plating it. The bore resists wear and corrosion in a way chrome lining cannot match, and accuracy typically holds better over a long service life.
The free-float M-LOK handguard keeps sling and bipod loads off the barrel, so point of impact does not shift with how the rifle is supported.

Mounting Optics and Accessories
A continuous Picatinny top rail runs from the receiver across the handguard, so an optic, a magnifier and a night vision device all stay in the same plane no matter how the setup changes.
M-LOK slots along the sides and bottom take lights, hand stops and bipods directly. The Sig Sauer 516 G3 Mohawk needs no rail sections bolted on, which keeps weight down and the handguard slim.
Sig Sauer 516 G3 Mohawk Controls and Fit
The safety, magazine release and bolt catch all work from either side, which matters when running the rifle from the off shoulder around cover or shooting left-handed.
The adjustable stock and textured grip fit a shooter in shirtsleeves and the same shooter in a plate carrier without swapping components.
