Description

The Smith Wesson 1854 30-30 Synthetic is the all-weather Model 1854 in 30-30 Winchester, pairing a forged stainless receiver with a black synthetic stock and an M-LOK forend for a lever gun you can carry in any conditions.
Smith Wesson 1854 30-30 Synthetic Built for Bad Weather
A walnut stock is beautiful and it is also a liability in a wet November. Wood swells, moves and needs care. This version of the Model 1854 replaces it with black synthetic furniture that has textured grip panels and simply does not care about rain, snow or being leaned against a truck bed.
The receiver is forged 416 stainless steel and the 20 inch barrel is stainless as well, which handles the same conditions from the other direction. Between the two, this is a rifle you can hunt hard with and not spend the evening drying out.
Capacity is 6+1 in the tubular magazine, the twist is 1 in 10 right hand with 6-groove rifling, and the whole rifle weighs about seven and a half pounds.
M-LOK Forend and Modern Sights
The forend carries M-LOK slots and there is a Picatinny-style rail on top of the receiver. That combination is still unusual on a lever gun, and it means a light for hogs at night, a bipod, a sling mount or an optic all attach properly rather than being improvised.
Iron sights are an adjustable XS Sights ghost ring rear with a gold bead front. A ghost ring is considerably faster than a buckhorn and just as precise at the ranges a 30-30 works at, and the gold bead picks up whatever light is available at dawn and dusk.
The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 with a thread protector fitted, the lever is a large loop for use with gloves, and a cross-bolt manual safety sits behind the hammer.
Ammunition Notes for Tubular Magazines
A tubular magazine stacks cartridges nose to primer, which is why 30-30 ammunition has traditionally used flat or round-nose bullets. A pointed bullet resting against the primer ahead of it under recoil is a genuine hazard, and it is the reason the cartridge has always given up a little trajectory to bolt-action rounds.
Modern polymer-tipped ammunition designed specifically for tubular magazines solves that. The tip is soft enough to deform harmlessly against a primer while still giving the bullet a better ballistic profile, which flattens trajectory and improves retained energy at distance.
If you intend to stretch the rifle past a hundred yards, that ammunition is worth the extra cost. For timber hunting inside a hundred, traditional flat-nose loads remain entirely adequate and considerably cheaper.

Why Buyers Choose the Smith Wesson 1854 30-30 Synthetic
Stainless and synthetic is the right pairing for a working rifle. It resists everything a wood-and-blued gun is vulnerable to, and it costs nothing in accuracy or handling.
30-30 ammunition is available everywhere and inexpensive, which makes this a rifle you can actually practise with rather than sight in once a season.
M-LOK slots and a Picatinny rail turn a traditional design into something you can set up for night hunting or for glass, which older lever actions never accommodated well.
Ghost ring sights are faster than the buckhorn irons most lever guns still ship with, and they remain usable if an optic fails.
Who Should Buy It
The Smith Wesson 1854 30-30 Synthetic suits hunters who work in wet or rough country, hog shooters who want to mount a light, and anyone who wants a lever action they can treat as a tool rather than an heirloom. Recoil is mild enough that it also makes a sensible first centerfire rifle.
