Browning Maxus II Shadow Grass 204 12ga Overview
The Maxus II is the Browning flagship gas autoloader, known for soft recoil and reliable cycling with everything from light target loads to heavy magnums. This version is the Maxus II Wicked Wing.
Barrel and Chokes
The 28 inch barrel has a burnt bronze cerakote finish, a 1/4 inch rib and a fiber optic front sight. It uses the Banded Invector-Plus Extended system and ships with full, modified, improved cylinder tubes, so you can open up for close birds or tighten up for longer shots.
Action
The gas system meters pressure so light loads cycle and heavy loads are softened. The magazine holds 4, 2 3/4 shells plus one in the chamber.
Stock and Fit
The composite stock with a mossy oak original shdw grass finish. Browning lists a 14 7/16 inch length of pull, 1 3/4 inch drop at comb and 2 inch drop at heel, with a Inflex 2 recoil pad.
Key Features
Browning highlights these features: magazine Cut-off; turnKey Magazine Plug; screw-on Magazine Cap; nickel Teflon; coating; 50/50 POI; lightweight magazine tube; speed Load Plus.
The 12 gauge
The 12 gauge handles everything from light target loads to heavy waterfowl and turkey loads.
Upland Birds and Waterfowl
This shotgun is at home on upland birds such as pheasant and quail, and its 3 1/2 inch chamber handles waterfowl loads too. Check federal and state rules on shot type and capacity for waterfowl.
Buying Tips
Before you buy, think about the birds and loads you shoot most. Barrel length changes swing and handling, with shorter barrels quicker in the woods and longer barrels smoother on passing birds and clays. Pattern your gun with each choke and load at 30 to 40 yards so you know exactly where it shoots before the season.
Care and Value
Wipe the gun down after wet hunts and clean the barrels and chokes regularly. A well kept Browning holds its value well on the used market.
State Laws
Shotguns are legal in every state, though hunting rules vary. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
