Savage Axis 2 XP Left Hand 270 Win Overview
The AXIS 2 is the updated version of the Savage budget hunting rifle, with a new stock shape, improved ergonomics and a better bolt handle at the same affordable price. Lefties rarely get this many choices, and Savage builds the AXIS 2 in a wide range of left hand models.
User Adjustable Trigger
The Savage AccuTrigger lets you set pull weight yourself from about 2.5 to 6 pounds, and its center blade prevents accidental discharge if the rifle is bumped. A clean, light trigger is a big part of why these rifles shoot well for the money.
Threaded Heavy Sporter Barrel
The 20 inch carbon steel barrel has a heavy sporter contour and a 1:10 twist, with a matte black finish. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 and capped, ready for a brake or a suppressor where legal. Suppressors remain NFA items that need an approved ATF Form 4.
Updated Synthetic Stock
The gray synthetic stock has enhanced texturing, a contoured pistol grip with ambidextrous palm swells and a length of pull that adapts from 12.75 to 13.75 inches, so the rifle can grow with a younger shooter or fit you in heavy clothing.
Bolt and Magazine
The enhanced bolt handle is easy to grab with gloves, and the detachable box magazine holds 4 rounds with an ambidextrous release. The bolt and ejection port are on the left side of the receiver.
Factory Mounted Scope
Savage mounts and boresights a 3-9×40 scope with fully multi-coated lenses and tool-less windage and elevation adjustments in medium Weaver style rings, so you only need to confirm zero with your hunting load before the season.
The 270 Win Cartridge
The 270 Winchester has been a go to deer and elk cartridge for nearly a century. It shoots flat with 130 to 150 grain bullets, recoils less than a 30-06, and ammunition is sold almost everywhere.
Who It Suits
This rifle suits deer and hog hunters, first time rifle buyers and anyone who wants a dependable, accurate rifle without spending much. It is a smart pick for a truck gun or a spare rifle at camp.
State Laws
Bolt action rifles are legal in most places, but some states restrict threaded barrels and hunting rules on calibers vary. We can only ship this rifle where it is legal. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
