Description
The Kimber Next Gen Boot Campaign 45 ACP is a full-size Next Gen 1911 in flat dark earth with an engraved slide, black G10 American flag grips and an RMR adapter plate, built to support Boot Campaign.
Kimber Next Gen Boot Campaign 45 ACP Overview
Model 3700897 is Kimber’s Boot Campaign edition of the Next Gen 1911. Lipsey’s lists a steel frame, a 5 inch barrel, an 8.6 inch length, about 36.2 ounces of weight, a GT Performance trigger, an ambidextrous thumb safety, a red front sight and two 8-round magazines. Our previous listing showed only a brand logo; the photos now show the actual pistol.
A Cause Behind the Gun
Boot Campaign is a nonprofit that supports veterans and military families, and this edition carries engraving and colors that reflect it. That makes the pistol a fitting gift for a veteran, a retirement piece or a collector item, while still being a practical full-size 45.
Optics Ready
The slide is ready for an optic with the included RMR adapter plate. If you add a dot, use proper screws and thread locker and check torque after your first few range trips. The front sight stays useful as a backup; many shooters add taller sights if they want a co-witness.
Trigger and Controls
The GT Performance trigger gives the short, clean break the Next Gen line is known for. The ambidextrous thumb safety and beavertail grip safety follow the classic 1911 layout, which makes the pistol easy for any 1911 shooter to pick up and use.
FDE Finish and Flag Grips
The flat dark earth finish and black American flag grips give this pistol a look that stands apart from most black or stainless 1911s. The finish is durable, but light colors show holster wear and carbon, so a regular wipe-down keeps it looking right.
Honest Trade-Offs
A full-size steel 1911 is heavy to carry, and eight rounds is modest by modern standards. The engraving and grips make it more of a statement piece than a discreet carry gun. Special editions sometimes sell out, so spare parts specific to the finish may be harder to find later.
Cleaning and Care
Clean the barrel, breech face and rails after shooting, and use a soft brush on the engraving so carbon does not build up in the cuts. A light film of oil protects the finish. Check the grip screws, optic plate screws and recoil spring at each cleaning. Store it in a padded case to keep the engraving and flag grips looking sharp.
State Laws and Ownership
Eight-round magazines are legal almost everywhere, but states with handgun rosters may not list this edition, and permit rules vary. Check your state and local rules before ordering, and ask your receiving FFL if you are unsure.

Before You Buy
Federal law requires handgun buyers to be at least 21 years old when buying from a licensed dealer, and every sale goes through an FFL with a completed Form 4473 and background check. Plan on a holster for a 5 inch 1911, spare 8-round magazines and 45 ACP practice ammunition. If you mount a dot, confirm your holster is cut for it.
