Description
The FAIR SLX602 28 Gauge is an Italian built over and under from Fabbrica Armi Isidoro Rizzini, imported by Italian Firearms Group. It pairs 28 inch vented rib barrels with a colour case hardened receiver and select walnut, and it is one of the few true 28 gauge over and unders at this price.
A Real 28 Gauge Frame
The small bore matters here because the gun is built on a frame scaled to it. A 28 gauge barrel set hung on a 20 gauge action gives you a heavy gun that shoots a light shell; a properly proportioned 28 gauge handles like the cartridge deserves, quick between the hands and effortless to mount.
That is what makes 28 gauge such a favourite among experienced upland shooters. Recoil is genuinely mild, patterns from three quarters of an ounce of shot are dense enough for quail and dove inside 30 yards, and the gun never fights you at the end of a long day.
FAIR SLX602 28 Gauge Barrels and Chokes
Both barrels measure 28 inches with a vented rib and are proofed for steel shot, which matters more every season as lead restrictions expand. Twenty eight inches is the classic field length for a small bore: enough sighting plane to swing deliberately, short enough to work in cover.
Choking is handled by the TechniChoke XP50 system with three tubes included: cylinder, improved cylinder and modified. That is the practical working set for upland birds, and the XP50 tubes are longer than standard flush tubes, which helps them pattern more gently.
Receiver, Wood and Trigger
The receiver is colour case hardened and carries multi-depth laser engraving, so the detail has genuine relief rather than looking printed on. Convex hinge pins spread the load across a larger bearing surface, which is a durability feature more than a cosmetic one.
The stock is select walnut with a pistol grip and a Schnabel forend, cut to a 14.5 inch length of pull. Long stroke automatic ejectors throw fired hulls clear, and a selective golden single trigger lets you choose which barrel fires first.

Why Buyers Choose the FAIR SLX602 28 Gauge
The FAIR SLX602 28 Gauge delivers Italian barrel work, a case hardened engraved receiver and automatic ejectors at a price that usually buys a plain black boxlock. For a hunter moving up from a first shotgun to something they will keep, that combination is hard to match.
Who Should Buy It
Upland hunters and small bore enthusiasts. Quail, dove, woodcock and preserve pheasant are exactly what this gun is for, and it also makes a very civilised skeet gun for anyone who has stopped enjoying 12 gauge recoil.
Be realistic about the trade-offs. Twenty eight gauge shells cost more than 12 or 20 and are harder to find outside specialist shops, and the small payload limits practical range on tougher birds. Two rounds is two rounds, and there is no room for a plug or an extension.
