Description
The Athlon Optics Midas EDC Pro Red Dot takes one of the most popular Athlon carry dots and moves the battery to the top of the housing. That means you can swap batteries without pulling the sight off the slide, so your zero stays put.

Athlon Optics Midas EDC Pro Red Dot Overview
Athlon catalogs the Midas EDC Pro as part 403019. It weighs about 0.74 oz, is about 1.6 in long and has a center height of about 0.58 in, so it rides low on a slim carry pistol. The window is about 20.5 x 16mm and the 3 MOA dot covers about three quarters of an inch at 25 yards. The lenses are fully multi-coated to cut reflections and keep the image bright.
Top Load Battery
A common CR1632 battery loads from the top side of the housing. You never have to remove the sight to change it, which saves you from re-zeroing and keeps the mounting screws undisturbed.

Mounting
The EDC Pro uses the RMSc footprint used by many slim carry pistols, including popular micro compacts from SIG, Springfield and Glock with the right cut or plate. Mount it with the screws made for your slide, a small drop of medium thread locker and the torque your pistol maker lists.
Battery Life and Wake Up
Athlon builds its EDC line with a motion sensor that puts the dot to sleep when the gun sits still and wakes it when it moves, which stretches battery life on a gun that lives in a holster or safe.

Built for Hard Use
Athlon builds its red dots to be waterproof, fogproof and shockproof, and backs them with its Gold Medal Lifetime Warranty. The warranty is transferable and does not require a receipt, so the sight stays covered even if it changes hands.
Why a Red Dot on a Pistol
With iron sights you have to line up a rear notch, a front post and the target, and your eye can only focus on one of them. With a red dot you keep both eyes open, focus on the target and put the dot on it. Most shooters see faster first shots and better follow up shots once they learn to present the gun so the dot lands in the window.
Zeroing Tips
Most pistol shooters zero a red dot at 15 to 25 yards. Start close to get on paper, then move back and adjust. Fire groups of three to five shots before each change, and confirm zero with the ammunition you plan to carry.
Battery Care
Replace the battery once a year on a defensive gun, even if the dot still looks fine, and keep a spare in your range bag. Wipe the lens with a soft cloth or lens pen, not a shirt tail, to keep the coatings clean. If the dot seems dim or flickers, check the battery and contacts first.
Ordering and Transfer
When you order a firearm from MAG5 Firearms, we ship it to the licensed dealer you choose. Your dealer completes the ATF Form 4473 and the background check, and may charge a transfer fee. Local buyers can complete the transfer at our shop. Bring a valid ID, and check your state waiting period before you plan a hunt or a range trip.
Safe Storage
Store the firearm unloaded in a locked safe or case, with ammunition kept separately. A cable lock or trigger lock is a good backup, especially in a home with children or visitors. Keep the original box and paperwork, and record the serial number in a safe place in case the gun is ever lost or stolen.
